News From Memorial School April 24, 2020
Welcome Back to Week 5 of Distance Learning
During our planned spring break, we hope you were able to step away from your distance learning responsibilities and just relax and enjoy the company of others. We returned from our stay-cations refreshed and ready to get back to work in support of our team, families, and young learners. It was exciting to once again be greeted by so many smiling faces and eager participants in virtual meetings. We enjoy receiving your shared photographs of families actively engaged in learning opportunities and look forward to celebrating everyone's amazing efforts. Now more than ever, we appreciate how fortunate we are to partner with the entire Memorial School community and look forward to the day when we can safely come back together in our learning spaces. Until then, we will continue to find new ways to support learning and strengthen our social connections. We are all in this together and we believe in our collaborative capacity to adapt and grow. As always, don't hesitate to connect with us.
With pride,
Andy and Brandy

The process of registering our incoming kindergarten students is always really exciting and we enjoy hosting informational sessions with families. We regret that we can’t currently gather together in our cafetorium and are working on a virtual presentation. The presentation will highlight our kindergarten programming and answer frequently asked questions. When restrictions on gatherings are safely relaxed, we will schedule a more formal parent night to greet you and answer any questions you have.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time.
Best,
Andy and Brandy

Greetings from your EHPS Nursing Team
Hello Families,
Just like you, our lives as health care workers have instantly been turned upside down by this highly infectious virus, Covid-19. We are working hard behind the scenes to ensure a safe and measured return to school whenever that may be.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be our most valuable tool to move forward through this challenging time. Face masks, particularly, protect us from coming in contact with others’ germs, as well as, from spreading our own germs.
As most of you have probably seen, our governor signed an executive order encouraging all Connecticut residents to wear face coverings in public places. While studies are still being conducted around ways the virus can spread, one thing is certain; tiny droplets of contagion are passed through the air. Breathing, coughing and sneezing all produce these droplets. Wearing a face cover, or having someone potentially sick wear a face cover, prevents the spread of potentially contagious airborne particles.
Wearing face coverings in public may feel strange, as well as seeing others wearing face coverings, but they are highly effective and may be our new normal for a while. It is possible that face coverings could continue to be the new normal even when schools initially reopen.
Keeping our students and staff healthy is the priority of the healthcare staff in our schools. We will be following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and CT Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines when schools re-open to continue to do everything in our power to keep our school community as healthy as possible.
We miss all the students and hope this letter finds your families well. We hope to see everyone very soon.
Sincerely,
EHPS Nursing Team

Thank You For Taking A Few Minutes To Complete Our Survey
Parent Feedback Survey
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The East Hampton Public School District works to ensure the success and achievement of all students by guiding the development and implementation of a shared vision of learning, a strong organizational mission, and high expectations for student performance.
As a collaborative community, we establish and implement best practices to meet the needs of every child in the East Hampton Public Schools. Please take this opportunity to provide feedback about your child's educational experience. If you have more than one child in the district, please consider completing a survey for each child to provide specific information for each school.
As a reminder, Memorial’s Parent Feedback Goal for this year relates to survey question #6 -- Academic support is provided when needed. Memorial’s action plan is as follows: To be responsive to the feedback and address parent concerns, we have created the FAST (Focused Academic Support Time) block for each grade level to support all learners. We will provide differentiated and individualized instruction during reading & math FAST blocks. We will work collaboratively with parents and students to set individual growth targets.
Your efforts to partner with us are appreciated and we thank you in advance for completing this survey.
Best,
Andy and Brandy
