Coronado Historical Association High School Internships (Museum Department)
The Coronado Historical Association is seeking Coronado High School Interns for Fall semester 2020 who will assist CHA staff with projects relating to the oral history program and other museum projects. All projects will require working with local historians and experts in the field, collaborating with community partners, administrative support, and program execution. The internship will provide training and students will gain hands-on, practical experience. The internship is intended to be an introduction to the field of history and the kinds of jobs that are available.
Grade 11 applicants will be given preference over students in other grades, however, any interested CHS student may apply. Selected CHS Interns will work virtually as a team, at least 1 hour/per week after school hours (exact day and time for Zoom meeting TBD) under the supervision of CHA staff. CHA seeks CHS students who are interested in history, documentaries, and project-based learning to apply for these internships. Students will earn one (1) elective credit for 18 hours of participation and may be included in a college application/resume.
Work to be Completed: Intern will each complete one of two projects, either the oral history podcast project or the digital humanities project. The oral history podcast project will produce one podcast episode and the digital humanities project will produce an Architecture App and a page on the Smithsonian Learning Lab. Interns will work for the Coronado Historical Association for one (1) hour each week (specific day and time TBD). CHA/CHS interns with a positive evaluation may also apply for research internships for spring semester 2021 (February 1-June 17, 2021), based on student intern interest and CHA needs. Note: New CHA/CHS History internships may be offered for the spring 2021 semester. More information will follow.
