Good evening! This is Principal Christenson from St. Charles North with a Welcome Back message to our students and their families.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 19, is the first day of classes for the new school year. With all students learning remotely from home to begin the fall semester, I have some reminders and information to support a successful start.
This afternoon, each student received emails sent to their D303 Google email account from each of their teachers sharing how to attend their classes virtually tomorrow. Please remember that tomorrow’s schedule is the full day schedule with all eight class periods meeting for 30 minutes with 10 minute breaks in between. First period begins promptly at 8:30 AM.
All students are expected to log-in by the official start time, attend, and participate in each class every day it is scheduled. For reference, the daily schedule can be found on the d303.org website on the District 303 School Reopen Plan tab. Please note the differences between days scheduled Full Day, ODD, and EVEN. Also, if a student has study hall or lunch on their schedule, they will not have a class to attend during that time.
Over the course of the first few days of student attendance, teachers will be sharing details regarding ways students can access support. On ODD and EVEN days, teachers have open office hours between 7:20-8:15 AM. During office hours, students can arrange a time to meet virtually with their teachers for additional help.
In the event that a student is sick or unable to attend their virtual classes, parents or guardians must follow our typical routine of calling the attendance line at 331-228-4700 before school to report the absence. Attendance will be recorded by teachers during each class period, like usual.
As a reminder, valuable information regarding topics such as the District 303 Food Service, expectations for remote learning, and community resources can be found on the d303.org website on the District 303 School Reopen Plan tab.
While the start to this school year is unique, the St. Charles North staff and I are very excited to be back working with our students and school community.
Have a great evening, and students - we will see you virtually in class tomorrow!
