Master Scheduling for Next Year

As we continue to improve our vertical alignment, we will be looking as a district, at our minutes of instruction per content area. We will also be outlining guidelines for our literacy and math blocks. We are in the very early stages of these conversations, so if you have specific examples of ELAR or Math blocks that you want us to consider, please send them to Mrs. Keck or visit with your IF. Attached are a couple of examples of how other district outline their minutes of instruction.

Save the Date- June 13-17

The TEKS Resource Conference is being moved from August to June. It will be held in San Antonio, despite the rumors we heard last year about it moving to Dallas. We usually try to send teachers from each team, so please save this week when planning vacations.

The Homework Lab is open 5 days a week for students who need someone to read to or need help with homework.

If your students have ideas of items they would like to see offered in the Paw Bucks Store, please send those ideas to Cynthia. We are always looking for ways to improve and make the store meaningful and exciting for the students!

New School Hours Next Year

The tardy bell will ring at 7:20 next year. This will allow us to capture 10 more instructional minutes a day. We will start announcements at 7:15. Students may continue to eat breakfast during instruction if they need a few more minutes. The federal guidelines for breakfast in the classroom actually wants the students eating during class time. All other hours will remain the same.

Summer LIbrary Hours

FSE Library will be open Wednesdays only from 8 am to 12:00 noon during the month of June. At 10 am each Wednesday in June, we will have a special activity planned for students. If you would like to help out, please contact Terri or Sharon.

We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss' Birthday soon. Here is the link to the Oath Mrs. Keck will read on announcements on his Birthday.

Read Across America Parent Involvement

In Celebration of Read Across America Day, wouldn’t it be nice if every single classroom on each of our elementary campuses had one parent read to their class during that week! This is a great way to involve parents in student learning while at the same time making connections with the community and increasing excitement about reading.

Please invite a parent to read to your class any time during February 29- March 4. Email the name of the parent reader to your campus Library Facilitator along with a picture of them reading if possible. We will be making a list and thanking those parents who so willingly participate in educating our students. The campus libraries are kicking off the week with a “Leap into the Love of Reading” Read-a-thon, however, the whole week will be a celebration of reading so any day is a great day to involve a parent and enjoy reading!
