Rid the Piece, Keep the Peace

Guns cause too many deaths in America.

In a single year, 32,000 Americans die to gun violence. That's 87 deaths a day (Everitt 14). People use guns to take advantage of other people and take lives rather than save lives.

The US has more guns per person than any other country in the world.

It is estimated that Americans own more than 300 million guns (Everitt 14). When more people have guns, they are more likely to be used, and not necessarily for good reasoning. Guns don't cause crimes, but there availability does make crimes more deadly.

Too many dangerous people have acccess to guns and other assualt rifles.

40% of gun sales happen without a background check (Everitt 14). It should not be possible for people with a criminal background or known mental illness to own guns. This can lead to more deaths than necessary and cause more crime throughout the country.
