NPHS RETURN TO SCHOOL
Update 1 of 2 - Next Update on Friday, August 28, 2020
Cohort Assignment
Cohort A: Will attend school every Monday and Tuesday and every other Wednesday.
Cohort B: Will attend school every Thursday and Friday and every other Wednesday.
Cohorts have been assigned via household for the entire district. As cohorts have been assigned, multiple district-wide considerations were taken into account. These included but were not limited to:
- transportation
- students in multiple buildings
- class sizes
- class balance
- requirements to remain at 50% capacity or less in all settings
Due to the complexity of these operational and logistical considerations, it will not be possible to change cohorts at this time. Thank you for understanding that in order to have all of our students who wish to return to the building, we must adhere to these requirements and cannot make changes to accommodate individual requests at this time.

Note From the Principal
It has been a very long time (too long) since we have been together at NPHS. Even though it will be a very different start to the school year, we are so looking forward to seeing you back in the building soon. We know you have been patiently waiting for news and updates about what to expect as you return to school this fall and it has come piece by piece. As information becomes available to us, we are applying it and reworking all of our systems and structure to meet new requirements. We thank you for your continued patience and grace as we embark on this. We will continue to update you in as timely a fashion as possible. This newsletter will contain some need-to-know information and you will receive more about what you can specifically expect on your first day of school next Friday, August 28, 2020.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Best,

Student Schedules & Schedule Change Requests
Now that you know your assigned cohort, you are likely anxious to see your schedule. We do need more time to finalize each individual schedule. Because we have had to create separate master schedules, one for distance learners, one for hybrid learners and ensure that both can also fully accommodate the possibility of a return to school for all students at 100% capacity, we are still working through the process of balancing sections and resolving conflicts. Schedules will be made public on Friday, August 28. If you have questions or concerns about your individual schedule, there will be instructions on how to submit a schedule change request to your counselor included.
Meals For Curbside Pick-Up On Hybrid Home Days
Nutrition Services will have breakfast and lunch available for curbside pick-up each day for K-12 students who are learning at home. To help us adequately plan for the preparation and distribution of curbside meals, please complete the survey by clicking the button below to indicate if your family would utilize this service. This is not a pre-order for meals - information regarding pre-ordering will be sent in the coming days. Note that if your family does not receive free or reduced-price meal benefits, your child's meal account will be charged for each meal that is picked up. More information about meal prices and how to apply for free or reduced-price meals is available at https://www.npaschools.org/food-service.

2020-21 Changes to Daily and Annual Building Schedules
- There will be no 90-Minute late starts for professional development this school year.
- Early Release Thursdays have been removed from this school year.
- Advisory will take place on Wednesdays between 2nd & 3rd hours for the hybrid group that is in the building. Each advisement will consist of 10-12 students and will meet with the same advisor each week. Advisors will remain the same for all four years of a student's high school career.
Senior Privileges Program
What Supplies Are Needed At NPHS?
Given the extenuating circumstances of this school year, it is recommended that students wait to confirm with their assigned teachers before purchasing items for the 20-21 school year. That said please click on the button below to see a detailed list of supplies required by course. Students can start the school year with a few essentials (notebooks, writing utensils, backpacks) and then families can determine what is needed.
All departments will take donations of supply items to be used in the classroom: whiteboard markers, hand sanitizer, kleenex, etc. Donations can be dropped off in the Main Office.
