ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families,
We were excited to welcome students back to school on Monday and to host Charlotte’s Town Meeting in our Multi-Purpose Room on Tuesday. We were also relieved that we didn’t have another snow day this week ~ we are ready for Spring!
Next week, CCS will be engaging in our annual Reading to End Racism Week. Reading to End Racism’s (RTER) goal is to raise awareness of the harm racism causes and to help develop skills and strategies to actively counter racism in order to create a supportive and welcoming environment for all children. All teachers will be spending time with their students reading at least one carefully selected book or passage and facilitate a conversation related to the reading selection. Some classrooms may also be hosting a guest reader who will collaborate with the teacher to guide the activity and conversation.
We will have two school-wide events as part of our Reading to End Racism program. On Monday morning at 8:20, we will kick off RTER with a schoolwide assembly. On Friday afternoon at 1:30, we will be hosting A2VT for a performance in the MPR. A2VT is a group of young men from Africa (Somalia, Tanzania) who bring their vision of a New American future fused with the traditions of their African past to Vermont and the world through their music and performance. We kindly invite CCS families and community members to attend either or both of these events!
If you wish to know more about Reading to End Racism, please check out our resource page on the CCS website: CCS RTER Resource Page.
We hope to see you next week!
Kind Regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra

BIG CHANGE ROUND UP AT CCS
Hello CCS Community,
I am writing to you today to invite CSS to participate in the Big Change Roundup for Kids, which is the largest signature fundraising event for the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital. Your gift will bring abundant hope and healing to pediatric patients and their families by helping UVM Children’s Hospital advance many of their programs and services. CCS students are encouraged to bring in coins to donate. I have also set up a link where faculty, staff, and families can make donations: https://goo.gl/eKFJuu. On the site, you will see that there is a goal of $2,000. My hope is that we will be able to reach this goal, but any donation can make a difference!
Reasons CCS is interested in the Big Change Roundup:
It’s hard to believe that some of our students face bigger challenges than we’d expect a child to face. A large number of Vermont students spend time at UVM Children’s Hospital. By participating in the Big Change Roundup, we can support those children and their families, making their visits as good an experience as we can. The Big Change Roundup helps to fund special patient programs, life-saving equipment, education and research to find cures for childhood diseases. Please help support with a donation of any kind. Last day for donations will be March 19, 2018. Any change makes a change!
Thank you very much,
Nihad Cekovic, K-2 PE Teacher
CVU THEATRE'S "THE LITTLE MERMAID"
CVU Theatre is very excited to promote our second summer musical: The Little Mermaid! All rising CVU freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to audition. The cast will be working with Ben Recchia (Artistic Director), Carl Recchia (Music Director), and many other CVU Theatre alumni (and friends and family), to produce this full-scale musical in just three weeks. Our primary goal is to welcome underclassmen to the rich and diverse arts opportunities at CVU.
Our program is structured very similarly to last year, and all of the program information can be found on our website.

I have also included a link to the trailer from The Lion King last summer as a sample of our past work.

As always, you are welcome to share any questions or thoughts with our team. We look forward to seeing you at auditions!
