Science
5th Grade
3...2...1... Blast off! It's time to take 5th-grade content off the earth and into SPACE! We will be exploring the different celestial bodies in our solar system this month and how the Earth, Sun, and Moon interact in predictable ways.
6th Grade
We are still deep inside the earth's crust this month, but we are shifting from minerals to rocks. Sixth graders will use many mineral identification tools to help identify the three types of rocks: igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary.

5th/ 6th English Language Arts
6th Grade
Students have been working on the connotative meaning of words. We will be presenting our connotative google slideshows with a Holiday theme. Mastering the art of public speaking is very important and students will work on speaking out, facing the audience, and pacing themselves to convey information
Before we interview our businesses on December 16, we will create questions in small groups to find out how our town companies serve our community.
We will be finishing the month with a persuasive essay which includes an introduction, body paragraphs and closing paragraph.
5th Grade
Our fifth grade students are currently studying how authors use various dialects to bring the reader into the story. We are not only reading short passages with English dialect but also creating our writing.
Before we interview our businesses on December 16, we will create questions in small groups to find out how our town companies serve our community.
We will be working on another persuasive writing before the month ends.
Social Studies
5th Grade
The 5th graders are still working their way through the ancient civilizations of the Western Hemisphere. We will spend time examining the lives of the Maya, Aztec and Inca. For their final assessment of this quarter they will be creating a project as more of a project based assessment as opposed to a traditional assessment.
6th Grade
In 6th grade we have been learning the history behind the 5 major world religions.
We started with the 3 monotheistic religions. We have completed Judaism and Christianity. We will finish with Islam before winter break and then begin with the last 2; Hinduism and Buddhism.
