Weekly Staff Updates
NBHS ALL IN
Principal Notes for the Week of: 10/1-10/5
Another week down at NBHS! I want to begin by saying, "Thank You" for keeping your grade-books up to date. I appreciate it, the parents appreciate it, and the board of education appreciates it. We all know the grading system is never perfect but, we can certainly do our part to make it as accurate as we can...KEEP IT UP!
The first round of drug testing went really well. The students did great and the company was very professional. I do ask that you do not enter the testing area, Dr. Dudley or I will go in their for you. Unfortunately, we can not share the testing days because they are random, so we do not know exactly when they are coming in. So be patient with the process on those days. There is no need to ask us about the results, we can not share the results of the test with anyone. The program is not for punishment but, rather to get the students and their families the appropriate supports.
There is a leadership team meeting on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. We will be looking at ways to help clean up the google document and advisory time. I appreciate you all being patient with this as we go through this process.
On Wednesday, the following teachers went through Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training: Dara, Susan, Joe, Brett, and myself. The training focused on prevention and/or safely defusing an anxious, hostile, or violent behavior at the earliest possible stages. If there were ever a situation in which you felt a student(s) were on the verge of reacting in a potential harmful manner, this group of teachers would be the ones to help support you during this type of situation.
On Wednesday, October 10, 2018 Grand Canyon University will be providing lunch for the staff. I do not know what that lunch will look like, you might bring a little something so you are not totally depending on them for your lunch. At the same time it may be amazing, I simply do not know but, I wanted you to be aware they will be bringing in some types of food.
Finally, the district wide carnival will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018. Please plan on being in attendance to help support your class of students, I don't care if you work in shifts during the evening so you don't have to stay for the entirety of the event, but we do need a class representative manning the games at all times.
