Week of February 8th-12th AND 15th-19th
This newsletter is for the next 2 weeks. We have a math CBA on Tuesday 2/16 and a Writing Simulation on Thursday 2/18. Continued concepts and reviews will be covered during that week.
Math
Daily Math Practice Set 19 Due 2/12
No Daily Math Practice for 2/15-2/19
We are working with decimals and relating them to fractions. We will also be adding and subtracting decimals. Money is a great way to relate to our study since students are already familiar with money and coin concepts. Below are some notes about decimals to study.
We will also be working with measurement conversion and problem solving.
Multiplication.com, We will be testing this Friday facts up to 6x9!
Math Logs from 1/18-2/19 They should be practicing equivalent fractions. Below I have linked a copy of the study guide. These are due on 2/19!

Science
We will be examining properties of soils, including color and texture,
capacity to retain water, and ability to support the growth of plants.
I will be taking the students on a nature hike as long as the weather
stays nice.

Language Arts
We are working on revising and editing student's papers during the process of polishing a writing piece. This will help us prepare for the Writing Simulation that is coming up on the 18th.
Spelling
There will be no spelling this week or next week.
Reading
We begin a new book in our class, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume. It’s about a nine year old boy named Peter. Peter has a big problem-his little brother!
Also, we are learning about author’s purpose. Authors write to persuade, inform, or entertain the reader.

Writing
Our expository writing will be about our favorite season or favorite time of the year.
