By Lois Lowry
The Giver is by far one of the best books I've read. Jonas, the main character, is growing up in a society of sameness. Everyone looks the same, everyone sees in black and white, everyone has the same daily schedule. Jonas is assigned to be the Receiver of Memory. He has to hold all the memories of the previous world where people had feelings and weren't all the same. He trains with the Giver, the Receiver of Memory before Jonas. When Jonas learns about the cruelty of the society and sameness, he decides to leave and give the rest of the people memories to hold themselves, and to change society.
