Yearbook Day

Yearbook day is tomorrow! Make sure you order a yearbook so that you can attend! Yearbooks are $65.00 and limited quantities are available. Visit or see Mrs. Brady today!

Yearbook Day Schedule

  • 4th Period - Students will be called to the football field.
  • Tech Students will be dropped off by the football field at 2:30 PM.
  • Co-Op, Blended Learning and Early Grads can return for yearbook day if they purchased a yearbook. They will report directly to the football field area.
  • Only currently enrolled students will be allowed yearbook day.
  • If it rains, yearbook signing will take place in the gym.

Attention All Gamers

The Hazel Green Gaming Club will be hosting an event for PC, console and desktop games on Friday, May 6th after school. You are encouraged to bring your console and appropriate games. The admission is $7.00. See Mr. Sims or Ms. Mayes if you have any questions.

Last Priority Meeting

The last First Priority meeting of the year will be Tuesday, May 10th at 8:00 AM in the black box theater.

Bowling Interest Meeting

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in being on the Bowling Team next year in Coach Williams' room on Tuesday, May 10th after school.

Time is closing in for the Senior Breakfast Celebration on May 13th. Please look at the list below to see where we still needing items donated. Please contact Mrs. Brady or Traci Chrisco for details. Thank you so much for your help making this day special.

Marksmanship Training and Rifle Team

JROTC Marksmanship Training and Rifle Team tryouts for the Hazel Green High School 2016-2017 Air Rifle Team will be held each school day May 3rd to May 18th. The training and tryouts are open to any student who will be enrolled in JROTC for at least one semester next year. All equipment will be provided. Annual Trojan Miss Pageant

The Annual Trojan Miss Pageant will be Saturday, May 14th at Hazel Green High School. Little and Junior Trojan Miss- ages Newborn-8th grade will start at 10:00 AM with the Trojan Miss Pageant (grades 9-12) starting at 7:00 PM. All 9-12 grade contestants must attend Hazel Green High School. Entry Fee is $40 before May 14th, and $45 if registering the day of. Click the link to register and pay online. Baseball: Upcoming 9th Graders

Upcoming 9th-grade players interested in becoming a part of the Hazel Green Baseball Program need to come out to the HG Baseball Field May 10th-12th from 4:00PM - 6:00 PM. You will need to have an updated physical. You will need to get your physical at the high school on May 9th. Starting at 5:00 PM. Hazel Green Baseball would like to thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to working with your son and helping guide him through his development as a young man and baseball player. Track and Field Tryouts

Track and Field tryouts will be May 16th and 17th after school. A sign-up sheet is outside room S-130. You must have a current physical to participate. See Coach Knight with any questions.

Physical Night

Physical Night will be held Monday, May 9th starting at 5:15 PM. Cost is $10.00 per athlete. Please fill out physical packets ahead of time. Packets can be picked up from each head coach or downloaded on the HGHS athletic homepage. All pages need to be printed and signed. There will be notaries on site during physical night to help complete packets.

#Distracted Driving: 101

Distracted Driving Program

Madison County Sheriff's Office is hosting a Distracted Driving Program 2016 at several locations during the summer, and Hazel Green is one of them! Come out June 1st, 13th, 30th, and July 18th! It's real great experience, you have a blast, and you learn the importance of safe driving! You also get a Certificate of Completion which you can show your insurance company. Be sure to check out the flyer below and to visit the Madison County Sherriff's Office homepage to register: application, release form, and health insurance form.

2016 Legends Round Table Event

On Thursday, June 9, 4:00–5:00 PM, Terry Bradshaw will join Mel Blount and John Stallworth on stage at the Westin-Huntsville to discuss their careers, challenges they faced on and off the football field, the importance of education, and preparation for a career and life beyond sports. They might even tell a few football stories! Attendance is free to coaches and athletes from all sports, teachers, mentor, parents, and students who attend with groups! We realize that your school will be on summer break, but we hope you will bring your students to enjoy the event with us! Seating is limited, and tickets per group are limited to twenty-five. UNA Summer Classes

UNA has opportunities both on-campus and ONLINE for students to become Early College students or, as a new high school graduate, to get ahead. By taking a summer class at UNA they can lighten their fall 2016 course load and work to make that 4.0! Summer Sessions at UNA are short, concentrated sessions that allow students to get ahead, get adjusted, or get caught up. Because the timetable is compressed, credit hours can be earned in a month's time and the student is ready for the next challenge!

Scholarships with May 2016 Deadlines

Attending college can be quite expensive for students and their families. Luckily, there are many college scholarships and contests available to help pay for a college education. Students should seek out and apply for scholarships in which they meet the eligibility requirements. Below are 207 college scholarships and contests with deadlines in May 2016.

Scholarship to MSU

Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity at Mississippi State University is awarding a $1000 scholarship to any deserving man or woman who is planning to enroll at Mississippi State in the Fall. Being a member or becoming a member is not required to be eligible for the scholarship. Please note that a phone interview and/or a face to face interview may be required if you are selected as a finalist. The deadline to apply is July 1st.


Parents/Guardians, the end of the school year is May 24, 2016. No medication, with the exception of asthma inhalers, Epi-pens and diabetic supplies will be given to students to transport home. Parents/Guardians will need to come to the school to sign out these medications. All medications not retrieved by May 25th will be destroyed in accordance with Alabama School Health Service’s Administrative Medication Policy. Please plan now. Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form into Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.

Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of the school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.

Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.
