Which conference is the only one in Indiana that focuses solely on middle school pedagogy and best practices? The IMLEA conference, of course! We also make it a point to include many classroom teachers as presenters. While numerous conferences charge hundreds of dollars, IMLEA members can register currently for only $139/person. (The price increases 5% each week; you can see the complete fee schedule here.) This fee includes breakfast, lunch, two keynotes, and five different breakout session time slots!

You may register your staff members and make hotel reservations (an increase of only $3 from last year. There is a price break for sending a team of four or more.

You can register now and submit names of attendees later. You can use a PD eLearning Day and send your entire staff! (Approval from DOE is no longer even required.)

Our keynote speakers are Buddy Berry and Lori Desautels. You can see an annotated list of our breakout sessions here.

Additional Donors Choose Support from Horace Mann

In addition to the Welcome Week grants this week for teachers new to Donors Choose, Horace Mann has a contest running this fall to fund existing projects. You can read about this contest here, and enter a particular project here. In Indiana, Horace Mann, headed by Lynn Schmale, is a big supporter of IMLEA and middle schools. In addition to sponsoring our Shining Star Awards and some board meetings, their agents do many things to support schools in their area.

Nationally, besides their insurance products, Horace Mann has many other programs to assist teachers, including loan consolidation.
