Monday Memo

March 14, 2016

End Stretch

Not only do we have to come back after a nice week off, but we have to experience the pain and agony of dealing with Daylight Savings as well!!! I know it was hard for me to roll out of bed this morning! Now the fun begins.

MANDATORY STAFF MEETING

Don't forget we have a mandatory staff meeting this Thursday, March 17. This has been on the schedule since the beginning of the school year. The expectation is that all staff is in attendance and all activities (tutorials, meetings, practices, etc.) are canceled.

We will be going over our STAAR training. This is in place of the March 24 staff meeting.

Pizza will also be provided for the training since it will last a bit longer than usual and we all love you! Plan to be here the entire time.

Also, we will be providing staff lunches for the March 29th STAAR date. We will send out a Google Form once we figure out where we are ordering.

Everyone Matters Day

Thanks to those of you who put everything together for this event. Joirdan sent out an email before break with the following information: https://www.smore.com/s7cxw

Hopefully we can make this a great day celebrating each other!

We will be participating in Everyone Matters Day again this year. Everyone Matters Day is on April 12, 2016 and I hope that we can continue this and make a tradition out of it. The city of Plano officials are planning to come out again in the morning this year. We will share further details with the staff once we have them.

Here is a link the Everyone Matters Day website.

Thanks in advance for participating!

Baron Elementary Student Project Video and No Labels Video

With Everyone Matters Day coming up soon, think about ways that we can make a daily difference in the lives of our students. Kristin showed me the Barron video and I was amazed at the reactions of the students and how great something like this makes the participants and also the viewer feel. I would love to see the Rice staff take on a task like this and share it out with the community. It takes one person to start a movement, but really one follower to get things rolling!

One other feel good video to get us going for the week and even possibly open up some more ideas and discussion is one I tweeted out this last weekend. Great concept, but even more intriguing as to the idea of "what if we could lead by example and break down labels?"
