Happy Friday!
Happy Weekend Everyone!
One more week until summer break!
On Thursday we had the pleasure of welcoming back the Fremd senior graduates who attended Pleasant Hill! We are so proud of all the former PH students and all they have accomplished at Fremd!
After a two year absence our sixth grade students were able to participate in their end of the year events. They enjoyed a delicious breakfast together as a grade level and they will be taking a field trip next week. We are so glad to celebrate the end of their career at PH with them!
Thank you as always for all your support and have a wonderful long weekend!
Warm Regards,
Dr. Morris

THANK YOU MRS. GEBHARDT FOR SERVING AS OUR PTA PRESIDENT!
Hi all,
Thank you for having me serve as your PTA President for the last two years! These last two years may have been different to what I was expecting due to COVID, but we came through with an intact PTA and were able to hold many events for the kids.
I couldn't have done it without all of the dedicated PTA members. Our executive board took on additional tasks and responsibilities, and our committee chairs were flexible and came up with new ideas on how we could hold events within the tight restrictions.
Thank you to all the parents, teachers, and administration for working with me. We have built a wonderful community here at Pleasant Hill. I'm leaving you in good hands with our next president, Julie Boldt, and the next year's PTA board. I look forward to next year!
Ashley Gebhardt
PTA President
Before I step down, I want to spotlight ways for you to help shape our Pleasant Hill community next year. Folks can serve on a committee or the executive board without any prior experience at all in the PTA. You just need a passion for helping our students grow and reach their full potential.
Vice President of Ways & Means
This position is the head of the ways and means committee. They plan one large fundraiser for the school year. An example of a fundraiser would be the Read-a-Thon we had this year or the Movie Nights we had in the past. A few smaller fundraisers may be planned if needed such as the Dine and Shares or setting up Amazon Smile. As a member of the executive board they are asked to attend the PTA's monthly meetings. This position can be shared between two co-vice presidents.
Corresponding Secretary
This position is the head of the communications committee. They send information about the PTA throughout the school year. An example of this would be an email reminding parents to turn-in an order form. They also update our PTA website with the latest news. As a member of the executive board they are asked to attend the PTA's monthly meetings.
Vice President of Membership
This position is the head of the membership committee. They sign-up PTA members for the school year. An example of would be reaching out to parents at the beginning of the school year to sign up for PTA. They also keep the PTA directory up to date. As a member of the executive board they are asked to attend the PTA's monthly meetings. This position can be shared between two co-vice presidents. We already have one person in this position, but are looking for a second.
Back to School Picnic Committee
The Back to School Picnic is the first event of the school year. It is where we welcome Pleasant Hill families back to school. Families get to have fun, meet their children's friends, and say hello to their child's teacher in a relaxed environment. It is also a great way to welcome new families into the Pleasant Hill community. This event committee is unique because the planning is done over the summer. The picnic is held in the first few weeks of school and then you are finished for the rest of the year. You don't have to do it alone, you will be paired up with committee members who have run this event before.

Multicultural Fest Thanks our Community
We are excited to share that Multicultural Fest was a huge success. We planned this event for a long time and we want to thank everyone who was a part of the process. Our committee, group leads and attendees did not miss a beat regardless of what the weather forecast was telling us. We are grateful for the flexibility and willingness to make it all work. It takes a lot of effort to implement the necessary changes and everyone did this with ease and grace.
Our school went above and beyond to bring elements of Multicultural Fest to the classroom. Students created educational posters in art to share with the school. Mrs. Gasunas and her media team shared the news of the event and incorporated the theme "togetherness" in morning announcements. This allowed for everyone in the school to hear the word "togetherness" in each native language from every participating cultural group. We also had an assembly to share the parade and performance with the entire school. Our faculty and staff were extremely supportive in helping with the entire process. We could not do this without their help.
We want to thank our PTA and community for supporting this event which brings enrichment to the families of Pleasant Hill. We especially want to thank our cultural group leaders from Chinese Culture, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea and Poland. Finally, we have an amazing committee who continues to share their hard work in making this event happen. We look forward to 2024 when Multicultural Fest returns. Have a great summer!
Thank you,
Team MCF

This program is not intended to suspend, expel, or punish students. Rather, the goal is to get students to 'Seek Help Before Harm.'
"Safe2Help Illinois is a 24/7 program where students can use a free app, text/phone, website (Safe2HelpIllinois.com) and other social media platforms to report school safety issues in a confidential environment.
Once vetted, the tips will immediately be shared with local school officials, mental health professionals and/or local law enforcement, depending on the nature of the tip. The program also will help local officials by connecting them with mental health resources or other appropriate resources to intervene and help students before they harm themselves or others.

Clothing Donation Bins
Every year, many children in the Palatine area lack proper clothing for the Illinois’ winter weather. District 15 has a long-standing partnership with the PATH Community Closet. The Community Closet serves the Palatine area by providing donated clothing to children and families in need. The impact of COVID has left the Community Closet with less donated clothing than in past years. We are hoping you can help by donating any unwanted clothing items at your school’s yellow clothing donation bin. The bin is located in your school’s lobby. Parents or children can place clothing items into their school’s yellow bin during regular school hours. This is a great way to put your children’s gently used and outgrown clothing to good use! All clothing, especially winter wear, is much appreciated and will be put to good use.
Mobile App
The District 15 mobile app is available on the App Store and Google Play! To download the free app, search for "CCSD15."
This communication tool allows parents and students to quick access to important school and district information, including Campus Parent, the D15 Bullying Tip Line, a quick link to MyStop (bus stop location and pick-up times), lunch menus, schedules, parent/student handbook, directory information, school news, and more.
To see integrated student information on the app, click the "student information" button and log-in using your email address and your Campus Parent password. If you are unsure of your password, please visit Infinite Campus and click "forgot password." If you are still having trouble, please contact your school's main office for assistance.
To make sure you aren’t missing any notices, make sure you turn notifications ON for the mobile app.
COVID Communication
Going forward, we will be sending letters relating to COVID to classrooms impacted. If there is a case in the classroom, it will be treated as with other communicable diseases. If you have any concerns regarding a case or cases in your child's classroom, masks will be available for anyone who would like to wear one in the classroom. In addition, we will continue having additional cleaning measures in any impacted classrooms.
If a student or staff member is experiencing a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, they should stay home.
When we have an outbreak (3+ cases) in a classroom, we reach out to the Cook County Department of Public Health and in those cases, CCDPH has strongly recommended that everyone in that classroom wear a mask for 10 days. This information is included in the email that goes out to that classroom.
We continue to track cases and communicate with the health department frequently. As we have all school year, we will continue to keep you informed if anything changes. f you have any questions, please call or email Dr. Morris.
We Need Your Help During Pick-up and Drop-off
-During the posted time on the sign by the back lot entrance. No left turn is allowed during drop-off between 8am and 9am heading north on Ceder.
-During the posted time on the sign located on the corner of Ceder and Michigan, no left turn is allowed heading south onto Cedar from Michigan.
-Drop off allows for one SINGLE file line in the circle drive in the morning. Please be patient as cars are stopping frequently to drop off students.
-Pick up allows for cars to park (not left unattended and running) along the curb. Double parking is not allowed.
-Students should not be crossing Cedar or Illinois to get to a vehicle without using he designated crosswalks. (A crossing guard is at Illinois and Birchwood, A crosswalk is at the corner of Michigan and Cedar)
-Students should ALWAYS exit a car on the passenger side while in the circle drive.
-If you are dropping off or picking up and decide to park in the parking lot, students must be escorted by an adult to the schools entrance. Students should not be going through the parking lot without an adult. This is extremely important.
Please think of the safety of all of our students and families during these times of the day.
