CORWIN MATH TASKS - This collection of rich tasks addresses the key content at each grade level are posted in the Google Classroom. Each tasks was developed by Corwin authors and other mathematics specialists that address the key content for each grade level.
Each of these tasks:
-Offer a format that makes them accessible to all learners-Invite students to wrestle with a problem
-Contain multiple solution pathways
-Encourage use of multiple representations
-Facilitate mathematical discourse and student collaboration
*This will be posted in Google Classroom in the Topic section called "Enrichment." If you try it with your students, please post a reply and share how it went with your students.
8 Ways to Enhance Retention
Whether we’re studying arithmetic or calculus, we tend to forget most of what we learn and only hold onto a few key details. How can we retain more of what we’ve learned and fight our tendency to forget? How can teachers equip their students to retain more of the information they’re given? To learn more, check out these 8 great tips for enhancing retention.
How Mistakes Help Students Learn
Why does guessing improve memory? When students try to answer questions on their own—as opposed to when answers are given to them—they engage in productive struggle, which helps them make sense of what they’re learning. Posing questions to students helps them think through a problem, bridging the gap between what they know and what they don’t.

Coweta STEM Recognition
1) Teach 5 STEM lessons. A STEM lesson typically includes some sort of design challenge for your students. Designing a poster or Google Slide presentation does not count as a design challenge. Teachers may collaborate on lessons together. For example, if your STEM lesson calls for writing (which it should!), partner with an ELA teacher to help!
2) Fill out the STEM Activity log. Briefly describe the 5 lessons on this form.
3) Post one exemplar lesson with student work samples. Pictures or videos of student work so other teachers and students can understand what the assignment leads to using this http://bit.ly/CCSSSTEMRecognition form.
4) That's it! Now sit back and enjoy the admiration of your colleagues and community.
