Math
This week we are continuing learning about multi-digit multiplication. We will look at how the area model is compatible with standard algorithm, and start to work our way towards multiplying multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. Make sure to continue to look at PowerSchools for updated math grades, I am so impressed with everyone's hard work! We will continue only having exit tickets due daily- but students are more than welcome to finish their problem sets for additional practice. As always, please continue to reach out if you have additional questions or concerns. I'm excited for another great week!

Science
In science our essential question is "What were the efforts made to explore space?". This week we will work on describing the efforts to explore space. We will investigate space exploration by learning about our missions to space. Students will learn about the Apollo 11 mission. Later in the week we will discuss the Space Shuttle importance. At the end of the week we will learn about the Hubble Telescope. On Friday we will have a quiz on what we have learned about space exploration. Remember that if students have missing assignments they have until the end of the quarter, October 9th to turn them in. In science students also have two opportunities on each of our quizzes so if students want to improve their grade they can retake quizzes.

Social Studies
In Social Studies we are finishing up our unit on the Revolutionary War. Students will learn about various events and construct a time line to submit. Soon we will be moving toward how our country came to be with laws, the constitution, and leaders of our country.

Return to On Campus Learning October 5th
Students will need to have their school issued chromebook and charger with them at school every day. They will have the option to leave their chromebook in their homeroom chromebook cart if they do not want to carry it back and forth each day. If students take it home they need to charge them nightly. All assignments will be completed digitally. Students will need to have headphones with them every day at school. Any consumable books, math binders or materials students picked up at the beginning of the year will continue to be used once we return to the classroom. Every student will need a bag/pouch/supply box with all the supplies they will need for each class with them every day in their backpack. There will be no sharing of supplies in the classroom. See the supply list below.
Online Learning
Students should be checking their grades weekly. If they have missing assignments they need to check in with the teachers during office hours (2:05-2:45) to discuss how they can get caught up. Any missing assignments can still be submitted until the end of the quarter which has been changed to September 30th with the early transition to in-person learning. All missing assignments and retakes need to be completed by September 30th by 3pm.
Our RTI and small group time has been developed to help support the students so it's important that they go the their RTI class and show up for small groups. This will help students be more successful.
To prepare for in person learning teachers will need time to set up their classrooms. Online learning will be asynchronous September 30th - October 2nd. There will be no small group instruction or office hours. Students will be expected to work through the lessons and assignments independently.
