A School Culture that Welcomes Every Child
“Our diversity won’t be a barrier but rather a reason for our success” -Unknown
Do you remember being in elementary school? Did you ever go back to your old elementary school? How did you feel entering your child’s school for the first time? I can recall all those feelings, and as principal, I am committed to ensuring that every child has positive memories of their school-age experiences. Unfortunately, the reality across our nation is that not every school or classroom welcomes diverse learners. As for Lisbon, we measure excellence in how we form relationships and connections with each child and their family. To be a school of excellence, there must be a focus on the development of the whole child. As a result, a strong academic culture results and ultimately, our student’s success at Lisbon.
School culture is critically important. The culture and climate of a school is visible and it is felt. A positive school culture says, “I am growing smarter every day.” “I belong here.” In addition, by focusing on high academic standards, students have goals that they can and want to achieve. Lisbon ES is a school community where academic excellence is achieved and social-emotional well-being is developed as a foundation of success.
This past week was Inclusive Schools Week. It was one week where we highlight and celebrate our continued commitment to every child, every day throughout the entire school year. Lisbon Elementary School is that place of inclusivity. The place where every child is valued. The place where every child is respected. The place where every child is loved. The place where every child is welcome.
This December is already flying by with just ten more days of school until the winter break.
We encourage you to follow normal routines, be consistent with your expectations, and remind your child to stay focused on school. It is easy to lose focus during the holiday hustle and bustle.
Mrs. Anoff, Principal
Mr. Scobie, Assistant Principal

Hour of Code Celebration December 5-11
What is Hour of Code? The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week. It started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. LES students will be engaging in activities that week in Technology class.

Fundraising Committee
The newly formed Lisbon PTA Fundraising Committee is in the process of planning monthly restaurant nights to help raise funds for the many PTA sponsored events and initiatives hosted throughout the year.
Many restaurants participate in Restaurant Night fundraising events as a way to give back to their communities. The way it works is simple: on a pre-scheduled date, when you choose to order from the selected restaurant, you simply let them know you're there in support of the Lisbon Elementary School Restaurant Night and they give a percentage of sales back to our PTA!
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU, Lisbon families and staff! Please take a few minutes to complete this short, 2 question survey and let us know your preferences. Restaurant Night Input Survey
Your opinion matters and will be used to inform our Restaurant Night fundraiser calendar!
Many thanks,
Lisbon ES PTA Fundraising Committee
We Need Volunteers
Please check out these committees that are looking for help. Some committees need things that can be done from home, a group to discuss ideas, or help with marketing or fundraising.

Gifts of Gratitude

DEADLINE FOR CONTRIBUTIONS IS DECEMBER 19th
As a token of appreciation for our Lisbon staff, please scan the QR code or go to lisbonpta.memberhub.com/store to give a monetary gift to one or as many staff members as you choose. Gifts can be from $1- $25 per staff member from each family.
All gifts will be added up and applied to gift cards of the staff member's choice. A thank you card listing your family's name will be given to those who receive gifts. Amounts will be kept completely confidential.

RETURNING THIS YEAR:

This includes:
2 - Health Room staff
2 - Office staff
1 - Counselor
1 - Psychologist
2 - Custodians
2 - Recess monitors
2 - Lunch monitors
2 - Cafeteria staff
On Memberhub in the name column just write Support Staff with grade (K -5) and donate $14 and each will receive $1, and your name will be added to the card. Bus drivers and attendants – If you do not know the drivers name you can list the bus number and the amount you wish to give.
If you do not know the names of the staff your child has each day, please check the Memberhub store and there is a list by grade of staff.
How does Gifts of Gratitude work? It’s a combination of a room parent and crowd gifting. Every donation is added together whether you give $1 per person or more. Staff and drivers are sent a letter with the amount of the gift and who the gifts are from (no amount is given) with gift card choices. These range from $5 to $100. Staff can choose what cards they want and in what amount. They are emailed (or given printed hard copy) the gift card(s).
Ms. Dottie can receive a Gift of Gratitude or Retirement donation through
Gifts of Gratitude as well.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
