Week of November 23 - 25, 2020
Sky Hawk Families:
Remember there will be no in-person school next week. Students will have virtual days Monday-Wednesday. There should be no new content assigned and no live meetings. Students should be catching up on any missing or incomplete work. Please have your student utilize this time as they will not be penalized for late work during this week.
NWEA Testing will resume after the break
The schedule is as follows:
Math - November 30th - December 4th
Science - December 7th - 11th

Drama Department
Drama is gearing up to start rehearsals for their Winter performance of “Frozen, Jr,” while Drama 3 students are preparing for their virtual holiday performance. See the Drama Newsletter for more information, including the Cast List.
Dance Department
This nine weeks our Dance students are focused on Jazz technique. Dance 1 is enjoying the upbeat music and more relaxed moves after an intense Ballet unit. Dance 2 and 3 are starting on the choreography for our annual Black History Month Celebration.
Music Department
Band-Important Dates: Junior High All-Region Try-outs- Saturday December 5th TBA (grades 7-8 only) Winter Concert- We will be doing a virtual event this year! More details to come!
Exploratory Music-During this 9 weeks, we explored the musical elements of rhythm, dynamics, tempo and form. We have been studying many different cultures, including African, Australian, Native American, and Central and South American.
Choir students are busy preparing their winter music and for All-Region Auditions next semester. They are also learning Note Names, scales, key signatures, and intervals.

Proofs and picture orders are available for pickup in the front office.
Picture makeup day will be Wednesday, December 2nd. Virtual students may enter the FRONT lobby to have pictures made between the hours of 10:00-12:00.
Thankful!
We are thankful for you and we are thankful for your children. Most of all, we are thankful for the teachers and staff members that show up every day to educate our children. Our teachers would be so appreciative of some kind emails over the break if you have the time! Shhhh don’t tell them we sent you!
PVMS National Junior Honor Society Criteria
The PVMS chapter of National Junior Honor Society is open to all students (Face-to-Face and Virtual) in 7th and 8th grades. Eligibility letters will be sent home after the first semester. Preliminary eligibility is based on a 3.5 GPA. The following are criteria for becoming a member of this prestigious organization:
- Academic – students must have and maintain a 3.5 GPA upon and after application. Application for membership will be open each Spring immediately after the Winter Break.
- · Students must exhibit exceptional service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Additionally, four teachers must recommend interested candidates. Students may choose which teachers from whom they seek recommendations.
- · Meeting the grade point requirement and submission of application does not guarantee admission to the organization. The PVMS Advisory Council will select members after carefully reviewing all applications.
· Induction will occur shortly after applicants have been selected.
