SAS Update
October 26, 2018
THE WEEK AHEAD
Halloween Pancake Breakfast
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27,
8-11 a.m. at TF SOUTH
Kick off your Halloween fun with a delicious breakfast prepared by Lansing’s own Copper Muggers! There will also be raffle baskets and a bake sale. Join the fun--come in costume!
WE STILL NEED BAKED GOODS! Thank you to the families who baked, but not very many did. If you are able to contribute, please bring to the breakfast tomorrow as early as possible.
Remember, ALL proceeds come back to the school to be used for field trips for our children. We do not pay the Copper Muggers anything for the food or their time, so we earn 100% of the ticket price. Spread the word and bring your friends!
Sacrament Meeting
11:30 a.m. in CHURCH
1st Reconciliation and Communion candidates and their parents will gather immediately after 10:30 a.m. Mass for this important meeting. We apologize for the lateness in the date change (meeting was originally scheduled for later in November). If you are unable to attend this Sunday, RE will accommodate you with a makeup date sometime soon.
Trunk or Treat
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28,
2:00-4:00 p.m. IN THE
SAS PARKING LOT
All are invited to this FREE “trick-or-treating” experience in a safe and secure Halloween environment. It's a chance for the kids to dress in costume and trick or treat from car to car instead of from door to door . . . and for the grownups who want in on the fun to pick a theme, dress up, and decorate their cars! Register your car here. There will also be a DJ, prizes, and hot chocolate. Bring your friends!

Thursday Envelope 101--UPDATE
We discovered several years back that the Thursday Envelope was a very efficient means of delivering necessary information and forms into parents' hands. Rather than having to search the bottom of the bookbags every day in case something important might be there, you can expect that the bulk of our communiques will come home neatly on one day in one big manila envelope. The envelopes come home with the youngest member of the family enrolled at SAS.
We do need each parent to remove the contents, sign and date the front, and return those envelopes the next day so that you will be able to receive the next week's delivery. Several of our students have NEVER brought their envelopes back to school, which means those families are NOT receiving important communication. New envelopes are not issued unless you contact the office to ask for a new one, so we are unaware that you are not receiving the information we send home until you question missing something.
Please do not send anything BACK to school in the envelope--it is one way communication only, and no one at the office or in the classroom checks to see if there is anything inside. So your hot lunch forms, permission slips, or notes to the teacher will sit there unnoticed and likely return to you the next week. Should your Thursday Envelope be lost or damaged, please notify the office immediately. Thank you!
Our Next Supper Club Destination--Chipotle, Munster
This one is a biggie--Chipotle returns 33% to us! Watch for your voucher in an upcoming Thursday envelope, the church bulletin, and Facebook, and it may also be printed from our website. Our Buona Supper Club in October raised $118.50. Let's try to top that at Chipotle!
Save the Date: Saturday, November 17
Keep on Clipping!
Our next Box Tops for Education challenge is underway! This time, we are looking for the class that has the highest percentage of participation--that means if EVERYONE in one class sends something in, they well have 100% participation. This time, it's all about the teamwork! The class with the highest percentage of students handing in Box Tops by Friday, November 16 will win an Ice Cream Social to take place on Tuesday, November 20, right before Thanksgiving Break. Start clipping, and ask your friends and relatives to save Box Tops for you, too! The Halloween-themed collection sheet is available on our website. You can even send them in in a baggie--simply write the count and your child's name and grade on the outside of the bag.
