What is Optometry?

Optometry is the profession that provides people with primary eye care. Optometrists detect problems in the vision and help correct the problem.

Education Required

  • 4 years at an accredited Optometry school.
  • Must take an entrance exam. (Optometry Admissions Test)
  • Training (Classroom and Clinical Experience)

Pay Scale

  • Up to $175,329

Working Conditions

Optometrists usually work in their own offices that are up to their liking. Most work about 40 hours a week and also work Saturdays and evenings to accommodate to their patients' needs.
