School Closure March 16-May 4th
Our school office is closed, but you can still reach us at 253-298-4500.
From the Principal
Hello, Midland Mustang Families!
It's hard to believe we have already been out of school for three weeks, and we now know that we will not be returning until at least May 5th. Hopefully you have heard from your child's teacher and were provided enough work to keep your student engaged in learning. It's been fun to receive some photos of kids learning and to read some of the student writing that has come in. Thank you for doing the hard work of becoming teachers! Please know that our staff is ready and willing to help you.
This coming week is Spring Break so our teachers will not be sending more work this week. We hope you and your family will have an opportunity to build a fort, go for walks, or enjoy a game night. These weeks have been stressful, so hopefully this week will provide an opportunity to create some memories together. If you are looking for more work for your student, there are learning resources at our district website, www.fpschools.org.
Above all during this time, I hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy.
Take are and have a great week!
~Mrs. Dawson
Spring Break
Our office will be closed during this time.
Relax and enjoy the week (and the Easter holiday) with your family!
Ways to Stay Healthy at Home
Eating well: Eating healthy is important not only for our physical health, but also our psychological well-being. Try to avoid processed foods and reduce your sugar intake.
Sleeping soundly: Sleep is essential for our bodies to repair cells, clear toxins, improve our memories and process information. There's good evidence that not enough sleep can have major impacts on our health. Going to bed and waking up at a similar time each day can help maintain a sense of normality, and help you follow through with plans.
Exercising enough: Exercise releases chemicals in the body that make us feel good, and it's also been linked to better sleep, reduced stress and anxiety, and improved memory. Going for a walk, playing outside, riding your bike, or doing an on-line exercise routine are good ways to stay active.
Social Connection: Not all social interactions have to be face-to-face to be meaningful. Try recreating them through video calls, or just connecting with family and friends through phone calls. Take a friend on a virtual walk or do a housebound activity together, like crafting or drawing.
Calming activities: What do you usually not have time for? Drawing, reading, gardening, cooking, puzzles, crafting, or playing board games?
Now could be the perfect time to do them all, or at least some of them!
If you believe you or another family member is sick, please reach out to the Pierce County Health Department for information.
