Working the kinks out!
Hello ACES families,
We have had a great week here at ACES and hope your child has as well.
Students are settled into classrooms and we are happy to say that our dismissal has averaged 20 minutes each day to dismiss 454 students. This is phenomenal for the first three days of school and a testament to the teamwork involved to make this happen. Thanks to everyone for your help in making this a safe, quick process. We are working out the kinks and hope to have your children all dismissed in less than 20 minutes going forward.
I have talked with many parents of K-1 students in the office plaza outside and we are working on a procedure for parents to let us know if they want their child to walk out without supervision. We are continuing to consult on this and to work out the logistics required, so please be patient with us as we work to maintain accountability while acknowledging the parent's wish for more autonomy for their child. More to follow. Until we have this in place, if you are waiting for your child in the plaza please continue to use the QR code to let us know you are ready for your child to be escorted out to you. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have more information for you soon.
Speaking of the QR code, that was the brilliant idea of fourth grade teacher Christina Jones. Our staff is always willing to work creatively to solve problems and make things better. Thank you, Mrs. Jones!
As a reminder, here are the dismissal procedures for K-1 and here are the dismissal procedures for 2-5. Each student was issued a placard with the dismissal procedures on one side and a map on the reverse. Since K-1 students will go with their older siblings to be dismissed from the gym, we need your help to identify those relationships. If you haven't already, Please fill out the form here to let us know which K-1 students have older siblings. Thanks!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please let me know using the contact information below.
See you in the car line!
