The Mission of Chugiak High School: Inspire Students. Excel Academically. Strengthen Community.
******************************************************************************************************
Mustangs,
Quarterly, Chugiak High School participates in ALICE Active Shooter drills. “ALICE” (ALERT, LOCKDOWN, INFORM, COUNTER, EVACUATE) is a five-step acronym our staff and students can utilize to increase their chance of surviving a surprise intruder in our building. Given recent events and the conclusion of second semester, Chugiak High School will be preparing for an ALICE drill this week. Please know that an ALICE drill will never be unannounced and that it will be immediately clear to students and staff in the building when we conduct an INTRUDER DRILL.
It is important to remember that the “ALICE” acronym is not a linear or sequential process when confronted with an active intruder. It is imperative that our staff and student are aware of this. Survival is our only concern if an active intruder situation happens. Our staff and students will be trained to use what information is available to make the best decision as possible. Faculty and students may use one part or multiple parts of the ALICE acronym during an active intruder event. In this type of incident, your students' perception will be their reality, and they will practice the appropriate actions to take in case of an incident.
If you have any questions or are interested in receiving further information on ALICE, please contact the school or visit https://www.alicetraining.com/about-us/
