Monday Memo
November 4-8, 2019~~~ A Newsletter for Teachers and Staff
Because of a Teacher
I hope you will take 3 minutes and 18 seconds to watch the video above. Remember at the beginning of the year when I told you my philosophy that we are all educators/teachers who make a huge impact on students? That includes everyone from the cafeteria, to the custodians, to the paraprofessionals, to the teachers...we all educate and teach the children we are blessed to have in our care. We don't often see the far reaching impacts we have on our kids, but we do make that impact. I remember one student in particular who I felt like I was a bit of a failure for not knowing how to reach him. Despite my efforts, he was rather difficult, a challenge. He came to me in the grocery store as an adult, hugged me and as he beamed with pride he introduced me to his wife and kids and told me, "I don't know if you remember me, but you were my favorite teacher. In fourth grade, you taught me to believe in myself and I never forgot that." That hug, that moment, meant the world to me.
Don't ever doubt the impact you have on children every single day.

APPRECIATIONS
Thank you to Mrs. Whiteside for her work with PBIS. I don't think I've ever seen PBIS run with this degree of fidelity...anywhere. She and the staff here at CES have a superior model going and I am so proud of you! The kids absolutely love demonstrating great behavior and earning good stuff as a reward. There's no doubt in my mind why we have lowered referrals at CES...you all help students build good character and show good behavior. They want to do well and it shows.
I have to give a shout out to Mrs. Kayda, Mrs. Striebel, Mrs. Korpi, Mrs. Medrano, Mrs. Tuten, and Mrs. Tribble for your positive and unified leadership here at CES. I love working with you and I'm so thankful that you are the team leaders. You are great at working with your teams and moving us all forward in one unified effort. Thank you for all that you do!
Please know these are just a few of the appreciations captured this week.
I know...I'm taking forever...maybe I'm waiting on the roofers to finish first. Hah!
