AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

GROW Girls Researching Our World

Saturday, Oct. 12th, 2-4pm

Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, USA

Manhattan, KS

This is a free event for 7th and 8th grade female students. Please have your child turn in the permission slip by September 27th. We will meet at JCMS and then ride a bus to KSU.

Students have begun discussing the Tutorial Process. AVID tutorials are 40% of our week and are of great benefit when utilized by students. Those who come prepared to tutorials and participate fully see an increase in their core class grades and GPA. AVID students are receiving around $40 a week of tutoring for free. If you have questions about tutorials and how they work please feel free to contact us. The following video is also helpful.

Focused Note Taking

Focused notes help students record and use the information learned in their classes to promote learning and retention of important information.

This is a vital skill for high school and college success. Please ask to see your child's note taking samples and have them explain the process to you.

When your child needs to study for a test, it is a good idea to ask to see their notes and if they have interacted with them.

Big picture
