Scholastic Book Fair Coming Oct 17th - Oct. 20th
Get ready! This year's Book Fair is going to be epic! We've turned up the volume with more fun, more choices and more excitement, so kids will arrive curious and leave bolder, prouder, and stronger than ever before. Here's what you need to know about our upcoming fair:

- Book Fair will be held during conference week
- Book Fair will be open until 3:30pm on Monday & Tuesday, 7:00pm on Wednesday and 5pm on Thursday.

Lost & Found
Our lost and found collection has grown tremendously in recent weeks. If you happen to be in the building for parent teacher conferences next week, please take a look to see if you recognize anything that may be your child's. At the conclusion of next week we will be donating all items to our coat drive, or other donation centers. Thanks
In School Dentist Opportunity
Taking care of your child's teeth is important to keep them healthy. On 10/24, 10/25, and 10/26 a state licensed dentist will be at Wilson Hill to check your child's mouth and teeth if you'd like. If you would like to have your child see the dentist please complete the linked permission form below by Monday 10/3. The permission form can be completed online, or you can turn a physical copy into your child's teacher or school nurse. For more details, please check out the links and attachments below, or call our school nurse, Liz Mitchell, at 614-450-4800.
Update: Currently we have 17 students registered, we need at least 20 for the service to come to our building.
Previous Updates:
Fall Harvest Parade & Parties - 10/28
Wilson Hill has set a date of Friday, October 28th to celebrate our annual Harvest Parties and Parade. Below you'll find some important details.
Harvest Parade: Our Harvest Parade is a fun event where students get to walk a specific route around the outside of the building to show off their costumes. The parade will begin promptly at 1:30pm on our playground behind the school. We ask that parents who arrive to view the parade form two lines (like a tunnel) beginning at door 6. Parents are not required to sign in at the office on this day, unless they are volunteering inside the classroom. Students will exit through door #6. Kindergarten will come out the doors first, followed by 1st grade and so on. The students will walk across the playground, around the gym, toward the front of the building, and re-enter through the main entrance. Click the link below to see the exact parade route. In the event of inclement weather, we will hold a modified parade for the students inside the building, however due to maximum capacity rules, parents will not be permitted inside the building. We will attempt to record the parade and send it out electronically if we are forced inside due to weather.
Parties: Classroom parties will begin immediately following our parade (1:40ish). Your child's teacher will be communicating more details about their specific party and food well in advance, but please remember our district policy regarding classroom parties: Classroom parties (ie: Harvest Celebration, Winter Holidays, Valentines’, and year-end parties), which remain an important part of sharing celebration with students, may include reasonable food items. We encourage pre-packaged food items which include an ingredient listing to inform consumption choices.
Teachers will notify families in advance of school-wide parties, and share the items to be consumed during the school party. This permits parents to scrutinize the food being served, and provide an alternative when necessary to meet their individual student’s needs.
We are confident that all parents can assist us with celebrating each child in ways that do not adversely impact the health, safety, and well-being of the growing number of students for whom food allergens and other conditions are an issue.
Special Note Regarding Student Costumes:
Students should bring costumes to school with them. All students will change into their costumes around 1:10 pm. Please do not wear costumes to school.
Costumes should not be graphic or depict violence
No weapons as part of costumes
Students need to be able to get costumes on primarily by themselves in a reasonable amount of time.
Spec. Ed. Key Communicator Update
Hi! My name is Carrie Troester and I am the Special Education Key Communicator at Wilson Hill. As your Key Communicator, I will meet 4-6 times per year with other Key Communicators to discuss what is happening in the district in relation to Special Education. After each meeting, I will share that information with you. I would also like to share concerns and ask questions on your behalf. My job is to relate what is going on with our Special Education Families to the district so that the district can better support us. You can reach me at carentroester@gmail.com.
Additionally, I wanted to let everyone know that October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. As a mom to a child with dyslexia, I wanted to share some fun facts about dyslexia with you. Even if you do not have a child with dyslexia, chances are you know someone who is dyslexic. As many as 1 in 5 children are dyslexic. Even though children with dyslexia have difficulty reading because they have a brain that is wired differently, with the right instruction, most children with dyslexia can learn to read. They just have to work A LOT harder, because they basically have to rewire the brain to do so. Being dyslexic does not have anything to do with a child's intelligence. There are many individuals with dyslexia that have gone on to do amazing things--perhaps in part because their brain was wired differently! Some people with dyslexia that you might know are Thomas Edison, Stephen Spielberg, Charles Schwab, Richard Branson, Jennifer Aniston and Dav Pilkey (author of Captain Underpants and the The Dog Man Series). Dyslexia runs in families.
Please share this little bit about dyslexia with your children--the more we understand ourselves and our peers, the easier it is to love and support one another.
