Stars of the week
Year 1
Sammy is my star of the week because he puts 110% effort into each piece of work he completes. He is always the first to participate, he is presenting his written work beautifully and he is making great progress in mathematics.
Year 2
Missy is always eager to share her answers and ideas on our class zoom calls for maths and phonics. She is working incredibly hard and challenging herself with her learning, always with a huge smile on her face!
Year 3
Bethany is a star because of her wonderful enthusiasm to remote learning, cheery smile and the amazing PowerPoint that she created. Well done Bethany!
Year 4
Oliver is a star as his enthusiasm towards online learning has been amazing. We have been really impressed with some super sentences he has written about 'The Borrowers' including words such as gargantuan and colossal. Oliver is keen to offer answers within his tutor group meets.
Jack is a star because he has become more and more confident in talking and offering answers within his tutor group zoom meetings. He is working hard every day, completing his work.
Year 5
Tyler has got off to a flying start with his home learning. He has submitted all his work every day, on time and made great contributions to our zoom tutor groups. Well done Tyler!
Year 6
Robert is the Year 6 star for his commitment to his learning this week, even when it has been challenging. He always engages well and brings a positive attitude to every tutor group, keeping everyone's spirits up.
A huge well done to all our Cathedral Stars.
The whole of Reception are stars this week!

Worship in Lockdown
It was really lovely to see the children from across school at our weekly class catch up and worship sessions. Timings for these weekly sessions are on our 'Worship in Lockdown' page and the Zoom link is on the children's Google Classroom Stream.
Teachers shared some of the super work and announced the stars of the week!
You can access weekly worship resources from our website 'Worship in Lockdown' page including one produced by our children in Year 5 and Year 6 about the unjust prince.
School Update
Dear Parents and Carers
I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to staff who work and live in Ripon as they have been a really vital part of our school team this week. Local staff have ensured that school has remained open to provide support for critical workers' children despite the snow and ice. We are very blessed at Cathedral School to have a very committed and caring team.
We know that families have a wide range of competing priorities on their time and that home learning is often one amongst many. We are always very grateful for the effort that is made by parents and carers in helping children to start, access and complete their learning.
It is our intention that our approach to remote learning should hopefully give some flexibility to enable families to manage time effectively with many aspects that children can complete independently; however, If you do have any issues or difficulties please do email your child's teacher or school and we will continue to do our best to support.
A reminder of the expectations around daily work from the government:
The remote education provided should be equivalent in length to the core teaching pupils would receive in school and will include both recorded or live direct teaching time, and time for pupils to complete tasks and assignments independently. The amount of remote education provided should be, as a minimum: :
- Key Stage 1: 3 hours a day on average across the cohort, with less for younger children
- Key Stage 2: 4 hours a day
Thank you for all your continued support.
I hope you have a lovely weekend
Kind regards
Steve Holmes
