Sight Words
First graders need to know an assortment of sight words in order to help them read. By the end of the school year, our students should know the 1st 100 Fry sight words.
This week we are focusing on the words: down, she

Spelling
This week: wave, hive, upset, going, block, but, man, sock, glad, needed
Phonics and Grammar
We will be reviewing letter names and sounds that we learned in Kindergarten and moving beyond the basic sounds to include digraphs, trigraphs, blends, and so much more. This week we are focusing on final stable syllable -dle, -ple, -fle, -cle, -kle, zle.
We are identifying verbs, nouns, and adjectives.

Handwriting and Writing
We are beginning to explore how to write a story with a beginning, middle, and an end.
Math
Students will use objects, pictures, and expanded and standard forms to represent numbers up to 99.
Students will use concrete and pictorial models to compose and decompose numbers up to 99 in more than one way.
Students will generate a number that is greater/less than a given whole number up to 99.
Social Studies
This week in social studies we will learn about Veteran's Day and we will participate in the Veteran's Day assembly on Friday.
