ATTENTION third through fifth grade parents, please be sure to attend the STAAR Information Session virtually this Tuesday at 6pm - https://lcisd.zoom.us/j/84437088387. Remote Conferencing

We appreciate the community support you have provided as we continue to focus on high-quality instruction through the course of this pandemic. Thank you to our families for continuing to comply with our isolation protocols for students that are confirmed or suspected of Covid-19. The health and safety of our students, faculty, and surrounding community is our number one priority.

Starting Monday, February 7th, we will be suspending remote conferencing for students who are in isolation. These teachers will now be mobilized on campuses to assist with in-person teaching and learning. A student with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive test or suspected of having COVID-19 will continue to be excluded from attendance at school and may return under the following criteria:

o If symptomatic, at least 10 days have passed since symptom onset and fever free*, and other symptoms have improved.

o For those with no symptoms, at least 10 days after the day they test positive.

*Fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever suppressing medications. Fever is a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Compulsory attendance still applies for students. Any student placed in quarantine by an outside entity (physician, County, parent, etc.) will need to provide documentation to the campus for the absences to be excused. Please continue to reach out to Nurse Annexy if your child is confirmed positive for Covid-19. As stated above, during the exclusion period, starting Monday, February 7th, students will no longer access Remote Conferencing. If well enough, we encourage students to access the classroom teachers’ Canvas pages to review course content. Students can also utilize Classlink to access educational resources such as DreamBox, iRead (K-2), and Reading Plus (3-5), Typing Club, etc. As always, we encourage our Wranglers to read, read, read! Parents, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher during quarantine with any curriculum questions you may have. Please rest assured that we will work together to ensure your child gets caught up on class work and graded assignments when they return. The most important thing is that our Wranglers are healthy and well-rested when they return!

As always, if you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out. We are all in this together!

2021-2022 ELEMENTARY STUDENT HANDBOOK

Personal Illness

When a student is absent from school due to personal illness, the student upon return, or within 5 days of returning to school, must submit a note signed by a parent giving the date(s) and describing the reason for the absence. Parent notes may be sent by email but must come from a parent’s verified email account. The note or email must be sent to the campus attendance clerk (samantha.galarza@lcisd.org). Up to 5 personal illness notes per school year will be accepted for an excused absence. If this number is exceeded, then all additional absences will be referred to the Campus Attendance Review Committee. If a student is absent 5 consecutive school days or more, a doctor’s note is required within 5 days of the student’s return to school for the absence to be excused.

Quarantine

Absences for a student who is required to quarantine will be excused with written

documentation from a medical physician.

Masks

Masks are optional in LCISD. We no longer supply masks for students that forget a mask. If you would like for your student to wear a mask, please pack extra in their backpack.

Monster Truckz!

In your Tuesday folders last week, you should have found a coupon for a "Monster Truckz" show. If you color one of the attached pictures below and take it with you to the show, you have a change to win a souvenir!
