Here's What's Happening at Milan Elementary School

November Students of the Month are “Respectful.”

Respectful - Respect Yourself, Others, and Property” was the featured character trait during November and teachers chose those students who were outstanding in treating others the way they, themselves, would want to be treated.

These students also are respectful of themselves, the property of others, our staff and our school:

Kindergarten: Benson Osborne, Jackson Meyer, Hunter Smith, Morgan Hall.

First Grade: Payten Bates, Allana Lows-Feller, Ava Myers, Aiden Arthur.

Second Grade: Wyatt Marsh, Ben Knowlton, Dannielle Fryman, Kynadee Bode.

Winter Music Programs Scheduled for Thursday, December 10

Everyone is invited to take a break from all the hustle and bustle of shopping and cooking and join us as we kick-off the holiday season here at Milan Elementary!

Music Teacher Mrs. Patsy Holdsworth and our second, third and fourth graders have been working very hard to prepare for this year’s holiday program. The students are participating as part of their music curriculum and they are anxious to display their many talents for your entertainment.

Family members and friends are invited and encouraged to join us for an evening of holiday merriment on Thursday, December 10.

The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with the second grade program, they are followed by the third grade at 7:00 p.m. and fourth graders wrap up the evening of song with their program beginning at 8:00.

We hope you can join us!

Thank You Dr. Wilson!

We would like to extend a big, warm Milan Elementary THANK YOU! To Dr. Wilson and his assistant for providing vision screenings for our entire kindergarten class as well as some of our other students during their visit on November 4. This is a free service they provide for our students each year!

MES Annual Christmas Candlelight Dinner, Wednesday, December 16

Our annual Christmas Dinner for the students is coming up soon. This is a day we set aside for the children to come to school dressed in their “Sunday best” and listen to some beautiful Christmas music while they enjoy a delicious candlelight dinner. It has become an MES tradition that students as well as staff look forward to each year. This year we will have our celebration on Wednesday, December 16.

We’d like to stress that this day is for our students. Although you’re always welcome to visit school for lunch on days that are special to you and your child, we ask that you avoid coming for lunch on this day. This special meal takes quite a bit of extra preparation on the part of our kitchen staff and makes it difficult to accommodate guests while making sure all the students receive the meal promised without substitutions. Also, many of our staff members take this opportunity to lunch in the cafeteria with the students. All of this makes the lunchroom more crowded than usual and it is difficult to arrange extra tables to seat visitors safely.

We thank you sincerely for your understanding and cooperation in helping us make this day a special one for our students and we wish you all a happy and peaceful holiday season.
