Straussed out about your pants, get BLUE JEANS!
On May 20, 1873 Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis patented the riveted pants in San Francisco, California. This date is now considered the birthday of Blue Jeans. Jacob Davis was born in 1834 in Riga Latvia and he died in 1908 in San Francisco. Levi Struass was in 1829 in Buttenheim, Germany and he died in 1902 in San Francisco.
Denim pants had already been invented but without rivets. Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss had the idea of putting rivets on the stress points on the pants such as the corners of the pockets and the base of the button fly. His customers were gold miners and needed tough pants. They called them blue jeans and later adopted the name Levis. They only costed $1.25. The Blue Jeans are more American and more popular than any other clothing product.
