Summer Updates from Medway Middle School 8/15/2022

News from the Principal

Greetings from Medway Middle School. I hope that you and your family have been enjoying the summer months. At Medway Middle School, we have all taken some time to rest and recharge this summer while also planning for the start of the 2022-2023 school year. As we inch our way closer to the end of August, the are many important updates that we want to share with you. You will find these highlighted below.

One of our goals this year is to increase and expand our communications with families. We'll be sharing more details about this soon, but to open the lines of communication, I will be sharing bi-weekly updates with the Medway Middle School community in the form of this newsletter. In order to help structure the information, I’ll include new information at the top and keep other relevant information under headings such as Reminders, District Information, Resources, and Important Dates so that you may review relevant information. We will also be expanding our presence on social media. Our goal is to keep information at your fingertips.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you and your children.

Student Schedules

On Wednesday, August 17, 2022 by 3pm, we will release student schedules in Infinite Campus. All students have Infinite Campus accounts. Families also have access to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Information on the Parent Portal can be found below.

Our counselors have worked diligently to create schedules that meet student needs and create balance in classes. As you can imagine this is a complicated process. As such, we will not be able to accommodate any requests to change classes to be near a friend or to be with a specific teacher. Should your child have a hole in their schedule or services are inadvertently left off of their schedule, please fill out the Google Form next to your child's counselor's name. Our Guidance Counselors return to work for the year during the week of August 22nd and will respond to you at their earliest convenience.

Guidance Team

Mr. Marcus Hatt, Grade 5 and Grade 7 A-FE

Schedule Concern - Mr. Hatt

Mrs. Taralynn Turner- - Grade 8 and Grade 7 FI-MC

Schedule Concern - Ms. Turner

Mrs. Kelsey Yim* - Grade 6 and Grade 7 ME-Z

Schedule Concern - Ms. Yim

*We are excited to welcome Mrs. Kelsey Yim, an experienced guidance counselor, to our team. We ask that families of students on Ms. Yim's caseload copy Mrs. Marien on all schedule-related communication until the school year officially starts. This will ensure that we are able to support all families during Mrs. Yim's onboarding process.

Parent Portal

Parent Portal

The Parent Portal is a vital resource to help families stay up to date on students’ assignments, grades, and contact information. We encourage all families to utilize this resource regularly. If a guardian does not have an account, please email and we will forward a personal activation code to create an account. Please note that students can access the portal by selecting the Google Single Sign-On (SSO) option. We plan to activate the 22-23 school year by August 17, 2022.

Did you know? Parents can use the parent portal to submit an absence request instead of calling the school. Simply log into the parent portal, choose MORE from the left menu, then select Absence Request from the available options to submit your request. Requests can be made at any time before the date of absence and provides an option to upload a doctor’s note for excused absences.

Open School

All students and families are invited to visit Medway Middle School for a self-guided tour (Open House) on Wednesday, August 24th from 5-6 pm or Friday, August 26th from 8 am - 10 am During this time, students and their families are able to visit the school, try out their lock on a sample locker and find their classrooms.

Please note that there is no official program for this day and it is voluntary. We have reserved this time as we understand that seeing a learning space before day one helps many students feel more comfortable in their learning environment. Teachers will not be present for this event and classrooms will not be set up completely, but we will have everything ready for the first official day of school!

Guardian and Student Information Review Process
