Welcome Back!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be your media specialist again this year and can't wait for all of the collaboration we will be doing! For those that don't know me this is my 3rd year as the media specialist and before that I taught 3rd grade for 8 years here at SCE. I love this school and have have enjoyed my time here so far!

My role as the media specialists is to first and foremost be a collaborator with YOU! I am not the old school librarian that wears a bun on the top of her head and tells everyone to be quiet in the library. In fact, I encourage healthy noise in the library as kids become great collaborators with each other!

I look forward to working with all of you again this year or for the first time!

Open Check Out

Each morning, students may come down after announcements from 9-9:30 to exchange their books. We will have a parent or myself monitoring the kids. We also have a "Go" sign and a "stop" sign on an easel so students know whether or not they can come in. From time to time we will have a parent volunteer cancel or I am scheduled in a classroom and the library becomes closed.

Student Book Check Out Limits

Students can check out 3 books that they choose. Self section is important for the kids- allow them to pick out something that interests them! If a project is going on, students can have more than 3 materials out at a time.

How do you schedule time with me?

The most important part of my job is collaborating and teaching with you!! I am able to come into your classroom, meet in the library, computer lab, etc and we can do a variety of things!

The best way to schedule a block of time with me is to simply e-mail me and then we'll set up a face to face meeting to plan the time together. I'm very open to lots of ideas and love trying new things!!
