The "PawPrint"--March 3, 2021

Principal's Corner

As we end the month of February, we look forward to springing ahead to bright and sunny days in March! As we move forward into the school year, we want to remind you that consistency in learning environment is extremely important. In order to maintain routines and procedures for our students, it is critical that students remain in a learning environment consistently. Please let us know if you have any question. I appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we continue into the school year.

AISD News

March 5 will be a regular school day and not an asynchronous day as previously announced.

From our Superintendent: Dr. Elizalde:

Thank you for your flexibility this past week as it provided us an opportunity to assess facility damages, begin repairs, and prepare to welcome students back to campus. We recognize that students need to return to a normal routine and next week, March 1-5, we will offer a full week of instruction, both on campus and remotely. Please note that Friday, March 5 will be a regular school day and not an asynchronous day as previously announced.

Transportation will be provided for students who attend in-person for the entire week. Students learning remotely will be engaged with their teachers throughout the week.

Thanks again for your support.

Continued Use of Masks at AISD-Email from Dr. Elizalde

As you may be aware, this afternoon Governor Greg Abbott announced an order to lift the statewide mask mandate. We want to let you know that Austin ISD will continue to require all students, staff, and visitors to wear masks on district property and at district events. Our decisions have been and will continue to be based on guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics. We appreciate everyone's efforts to keep safe by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing when possible, and washing hands frequently.

STAAR Information Session-Update from Dr. Elizalde

STAAR Information Session

One of the many ways we support students in their academic growth is through standardized testing, which includes the STAAR test.

To help answer your questions about what STAAR will look like and why it's important for our students to take the test, we are hosting "Beyond the STAAR," a virtual engagement session at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9 via Facebook Live and AISD.TV.

District leaders will answer questions from a moderator and audience members via Facebook comments.

We look forward to engaging with you on this important topic!

Counselor Updates

Counselor Information:

In February we focused on Kindness! We all focused on our 20-Day Kindness Challenge and our motto was KINDNESS MATTERS. It was so wonderful to see all of our Pandas exhibiting kind acts and behaviors towards one another. Even though our challenge is over, it is important to continue to spread kindness on a daily basis.

March will focus on ❤️RESPONSIBILITY❤️! Responsibility means you are dependable, you make good choices, and are accountable for your actions.
