THE LMS LOWDOWN

December 3, 2021

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

It's the most wonderful time of the year, for many of us. Every year, LMS takes part in some activities to help those in our community and areas surrounding who are not as fortunate. This year, the students of LMS stood up and really showed how generous and compassionate people can be. More on all this below.

GOVERNOR'S EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR

Every December, we honor our outstanding teacher and support staff member here at LMS. This year, we had two very deserving honorees. Our support staff member of the year is Pam Slocum, our wonderful secretary in the Counseling Office of LMS. Our teacher of the year is Eric Brown, our amazing 8th grade Social Studies teacher. These were announced this week and we always love to surprise the people with having their family come in for the announcement. Mr. Brown is the first two-time honoree at LMS! Great job Pam and Eric, we at LMS are lucky to have you.

PTA ANNUAL HOLIDAY DRIVE

The Lumberton PTA's annual Holiday Drive has started! Wish lists were sent home with your child last week. Please check your child's folder for this information. You can also access your child's wish list at any time here: Holiday Drive Wish Lists. The drive will end on Friday, December 10th. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

For those of you that are unfamiliar, this program helps to provide children in our community that are less fortunate with coats, clothes, food, and gifts from each child’s specific wish list. In 2020, we were able to help 64 Lumberton children from 28 different families; this could not have been done without your continued support.

PAJAMA DAY TO BENEFIT CHOP

Today, students and staff were able to wear pajamas to school and if they chose, could give a donation to benefit the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The students and staff of Lumberton Middle School contributed over $950. In addition, a local sponsor, Mark Allen Auto Repair, pledged $5 for any staff member who wore pajamas and that totaled an additional $150, bringing the total contribution to over $1100 for CHOP. Great job LMS!

Continuing on in generosity, LMS students and staff completed the annual Spare Change Drive to directly benefit the people of Lumberton. This years amount shattered any record that people could remember with the total climbing to $1614.95. Mrs. Cirucci/Mrs. Lee had the winning homeroom and they will receive a pizza party courtesy of the PTA
