Battle of the Books

Congratulations to all of our fourth and fifth grade students who participated in the first round of Clarks Creek Battle of the Books competition! Our teams worked so hard to read all of the Young Hoosier Book Award Nominees and prepare to answer trivia questions related to them. The teams were whittled down through rounds of competition until one final team remained. This last team participated in the district-wide competition against teams from Van Buren, Brentwood, and Central, and our team came out on top! Congratulations to the Conqueror Readers team!

Don't Forget Breakfast!

Kids need breakfast to refuel their brains and bodies. By recharging the brain and body, kids will be more efficient in just about everything they do. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Short on time in the mornings? Have your child eat breakfast at school. Breakfast is 8:20-8:40 each morning in the school cafeteria. Breakfast is $1.30 (.30 for eligible students). Please discuss with your child if they are to eat breakfast at school. If you have any questions regarding breakfast please contact our Food Service Director at 317-838-3662.

Our One School, One Book program is underway! We had great participation in the first week, with many students turning in their reading logs on Monday. Remember, if you don't have time to read a chapter each night, you can always catch back up on the weekend. We've heard many families talking about what a great experience this has been for them so far, and we are so grateful for your involvement in this program!

Here Comes the Bus!

This great new program is designed to inform parents whose students ride the bus each day about these three things:

  • See the location of your child’s bus both before and after school

  • Confirm that your child’s bus has arrived at the bus stop and at school

  • Receive a push notification* or email message when the bus is a certain distance from your stop

See the link for much more information!

See Ms. Wright on Jeopardy!

Our very own school librarian, Ms. Wright, was a contestant on Jeopardy! See her show air this Monday night! We are so proud of Ms. Wright for "insisting on her personal best" in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

The Dumpster Drummers Visited Us!

We were able to reschedule the Dumpster Drummers' performance for our students! This was a reward for our students winning the Hendricks County Waste Management's "Waste-Free Lunch Challenge" back in November. We were thoroughly entertained and learned even more about how to recycle effectively!
