A Greeting from Dr. Champagne-Lee

Dear Families,

Our “Start with Hello” spirit week was a blast—enjoy the photos! We hope that our students learned some new strategies to demonstrate kindness and to help others feel welcome. Many thanks to our counseling department for leading class lessons.

Just a reminder that schools are closed on Monday in honor of Rosh Hashanah. Enjoy the long weekend. We look forward to seeing all students back on Tuesday.

Sincerely,

Keya Champagne-Lee, Ed.D.

ALICE School Safety Drill

We will be hosting our first ALICE School Safety drill next week. Before the drill, teachers will lead age-appropriate conversations with their classes and walk the students through the procedures. This review and practice will help to alleviate unnecessary stress or anxiety. This drill is meant to be practice only, and not stressful or scary in nature.

Second Step—Lesson 2

As a school community, we are committed to catering to the needs of the whole child and look forward to supporting the social-emotional and behavioral needs of our community through Second Step.

This week our students participated in lesson 2 of our Second Step curriculum.

  • Kindergarten: Why We Pay Attention. With adult support, students will be able to identify two important reasons to pay attention: to learn and to stay safe.
  • First grade: Everyone Gets Distracted. With adult support, students will be able to suggest behaviors that can help them pay attention when they encounter distractions.
