Happenings at Decatur Central High School
January 4, 2023 Edition
Greetings Decatur Central Families,
We look forward to welcoming students back to school tomorrow, Thursday, January 5th, 2023, and the beginning of a successful second semester of learning here at Decatur Central High School. In accordance with our district mission, safety of our students and staff continues to be prioritized at our school. I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that in addition to the many safety measures we have in place, we will begin a new practice of using metal detector wands to conduct random searches. The purpose of this practice is to deter anyone from bringing unsafe and unnecessary items into our school. This will take place in addition to our practice of using police dogs to conduct random searches as well. I encourage you to speak with your children about the importance of making good decisions and knowing what is and is not appropriate to bring to school. We also continue to encourage all members of our school community to report unsafe activity to school staff members immediately. As a reminder, any student who brings a weapon or prohibited item of any kind will face disciplinary action, per school district policy.
As always...we are committed to being better today than yesterday, better tomorrow than today because we are Hawks, it's what we do!
