Panther Press Volume 18
Excellence,Everywhere,Everyday
Greetings Panther Family
It is hard to believe that we are already turning the calendar from January to February.
Thank you to everyone who attended our CTE Expo and our Course Selection/Advanced Academic meeting last week. If you missed the meeting, be sure to access the advanced academic information on our campus website.
Parents interested in Dual Credit? All Dual Credit documents will be uploaded to our campus website soon under advanced academics!
Last week students in grades 9-11 were provided with information for the 2020-2021 course selection process. Hopefully, you had the opportunity to review the course selection materials with your child. Over the next two weeks, counselors will be meeting with all students to review their selections.
This semester is moving quickly as we are already half way through the third quarter. Progress Reports will be uploaded on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Remember, progress reports gives us an opportunity to officially communicate academic performance to students, parents and guardians.
Remember, there are plenty of opportunities to support our Panthers in extra-curricular arenas this spring. Our soccer teams are in full swing with their district matches and both teams are off to a great start. Baseball and softball have started practicing in preparation for their upcoming seasons. Our boys and girls track teams have begun braving the cold in preparation for the upcoming track season.
I would encourage you to find a way to come out and support as many chances as you can because you will enjoy the product put out there by our students.
I leave you with one of my favorite quotes by Henry Ford, "If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself." Let’s all join forces to make sure our children are planning to win, preparing to win, and expecting to win in their actions, academics, and life!
Have a great week and GO Panthers!

One of the highest honors a delegation can receive is the designation of “Premier Delegation,” which is only awarded to the top 10% of schools that compete at the state conference. In order to receive that designation, all students from the delegation must actively engage in the competition with high scores, be on time, be in dress code, behave with the utmost character, and turn in all paperwork on time. Duncanville High School brought 71 delegates, making it the largest single school delegation from the Dallas Region, and for the 5th consecutive year, Duncanville High School was given the coveted distinction of “Premier Delegation.”
We are so proud of our scholars and their achievements. Be sure to congratulate all of our YAG Scholars on a job well done representing the City of Champions!
JV & Varsity Silver Flags Winterguard
The JV & Varsity Silver Flags Winterguard competed in their first competition this weekend at the North Texas Colorguard Association Competition in Alvarado. Both teams came home with 2nd place wins in their divisions.

SCHOOL REPORT CARD
You will find a copy of the State of Texas 2018–19 School Report Card for Duncanville High School. This is a report required by the Texas Legislature and prepared by the Texas Education Agency. It is to be sent to the parent or guardian of every child enrolled in a Texas public school. The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures.
The information contained in the School Report Card is required by state law and is briefly described in the enclosed “2018–19 School Report Card Definitions.” The report for our school may or may not have all the information described because the information presented depends on whether the school is an elementary, middle, or high school.
State law requires that the School Report Card display information about the state, the district, and the school. Where possible, the information must be reported by race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status of the students and must include at least two years of results.
The School Report Cards can be found online at https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/2019/campus.srch.html
A more complete report about Duncanville High School, the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), is available by contacting my office or can be accessed online at https://tea.texas.gov/Student_Testing_and_Accountability/Accountability/State_Accountability/Performance_Reporting/Texas_Academic_Performance_Reports
