MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Happy Spring Break! I hope you enjoy your time off with your families. Please try to keep up with reading at home with your children. You can also keep up the work on Lexia, Freckle, and Imagine Math to keep your kids practicing their skills during the week off. But be sure to also practice Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw.
When we return from Spring break, MSTEP testing for 5th graders will begin. MSTEP is the statewide summative assessment test that we take each year in the spring. 3rd and 4th graders MSTEP testing does not start until later in April. Kindergarten-2nd grade students do not participate in this assessment. Your child's teacher will be sending home more specific information on testing dates. Due to the fact that we test online now, teachers' testing dates do not always align as an entire grade level. Please reach out to me or to your child's teacher if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Delgado

BLUE RIBBON UPDATES
Blue Ribbon Reconfiguration Meeting postponed until April 11 at Parcells
Due to feedback from the Blue Ribbon Committee (BRC) and community, the March 28th BRC meeting will be postponed until after Spring Break. The new date and location: Thursday, April 11, from 6-9 p.m., in the Parcells Auditorium, 20600 Mack Avenue.
Postponing the meeting will:
- increase transparency
- provide additional time for input to the Board of Education through public comments at their meetings, email and mail
- increase attendance
- allow more time for the Middle Cities enrollment projections to come in
- provide opportunity for the administration to gather input from 5th and 6th grade teachers
- provide administration more time to fine tune numbers and scheduling details for the scenarios
- allow time to finalize Town Hall dates and locations so those can be announced on April 11 as the next step in this process
In the meantime, please review the updated FAQ and let us know if there are additional questions you’re hearing.
