Superintendent Weekly Update - February 2, 2018

REBATE
GROUNDHOG DAY!
Punxsutawney Phil Sees Shadow, Six More Weeks Of Winter! Unfortunately, we have already had 5 calamity days due to weather, mostly in the form of fog. So we are getting close to having to go longer in the spring. We will let you know on our website, through my Weekly Update, and through Instant Alert when we are at that point. Since the State requires us to be in session based on hours, rather than days, it gets a little more complicated. Every hour we delay counts against the number of hours required in a school year. We have cancelled our February and March planned two-hour delays for staff professional development for that reason. We have 2-3 more days we can miss, depending on how many delays we have as well. If we should need to add days to our school year those are already in our school calendar that was published last spring. If needed those days will be May 29th, 30th, 31st, June 1st, 4th, and 5th.
OMEA District 1 Honor Choir
There will be exceptional performances by the honors ensembles. The concert will take place on Sunday, February 18 at the Stranahan Theater. The Junior High Honors Orchestra, Choir, and Band will perform at 2:30 p.m., while the High School Honors Orchestra, Choir, and Band will take the stage at 7 p.m. Please consider attending to support the talented students and hard-working music teachers from our district!

ADMINISTRATIVE ROAD SHOW
FOCUS #4 ADAPT AND ADJUST
Don’t blame the E, choose a better R. Don’t hold on to what’s holding you back. Get good at change. Life requires you to make changes whether you are ready or not. Success goes to those who are adaptable. So... Things don’t go your way - what do you do now? As parents and staff members, what supports can we put in place for the students to be able to adapt and adjust?
