8th Grade Update
Field Day Edition
Dear 8th Grade Students and Families,
Happy Thursday! This week, I've decided to send out our weekly update a day early to help us be extra prepared for tomorrow's big event: FIELD DAY! :)
This week, we said goodbye to our dear Father Tim as he sets out on his priestly adventures. We're sad to see him go, but thrilled for this next chapter of his faith journey! We created a beautiful card and celebrated one last Mass with him this past Wednesday. In his homily, he reminded us all of the importance of love, humility, and acceptance. Let's honor his wise words by enacting these qualities in how we treat one another and ourselves. I invite us all to keep reflecting on Father Tim's words as we continue to prepare for Confirmation, exploring the extraordinary purpose God and the Holy Spirit have instilled in us all.
Father Tim's message also connects to what we expect of all 8th graders tomorrow as the leaders of Field Day! Please read all of the information below carefully. Don't forget to pack an extra snack in case you need an energy boost before the big game against the teachers! :)
Love,
Ms. K
Tomorrow, 8th grade will be hosting one of our favorite annual events here at Sacred Heart: Field Day! With Mr. Bonilla's help, 8th grade has been carefully planning out each exciting activity for our school community. After all this planning and organizing, we're definitely feeling ready to get outside and have some fun. :) Here is all the information you need to know in order to have a successful and fun field day!
8th Grade Expectations
1. BE A LEADER
- You and your partner will be in charge of making sure your equipment gets to Hains Point, setting your station up, and cleaning up. Leaders are problem-solvers, safety enforcers, and direction givers. Leaders communicate clearly and help others. You've been given a lot of responsibility tomorrow because you're ready for it. Make us all proud.
2. BE KIND
- Set the tone for the day. Model the positive sportsmanship you want to see in all of your participants. The saying "patience is a virtue" is going to be especially important tomorrow. Don't lose sight of the fact that your participants are younger than you and just as amped up! Plan on giving directions at least 3 times to each group (and with a smile!).
3. BE HAPPY
- You've waited a long time for this day and it's finally here! Take time to recognize all the hard work you've done to make this happen and enjoy this time with your friends. Go into tomorrow with pride, excitement, and gratitude. If we all commit to this, we'll make amazing memories together. :)
