Thoughts from Mrs. Lewis....

  • Attached you will find the committees for the 2017-2018 school year. It has been added to Canvas, as well.
  • Homeroom Teachers should have 100% surveys returned by Tuesday, October 24.
  • Don't forget to wear ORANGE on Wednesday to show your support of ANTI-BULLYING!
  • We will dissect your benchmark data during Instructional Planning on November 3. See details below.
  • We are still collecting United Way Pledge Cards. Let's get 100%! $1 counts as a donation.
  • Grade Level Chairs have been asked to arrange supervision in the hallways, lockers, and bathrooms during the morning and afternoons at dismissal. We can't defend a student getting hurt when an adult was not supervising.
  • Students scoring 60 or better on their benchmark will be treated to a special treat on Friday, October 27th. (More info to come!)
  • Please welcome Pamela Hedgepeth to our SHMS family. She will teach 8th grade Math. Mrs. Hedgepeth will begin on Monday, October 23rd.
  • Instructional planning tentative schedule attached with details (More news to come).
  • Don't forget Sunshine Dues......$20. Carrie Macy and Melony Gore have paid their dues! Thank you!

General Reminders

  • All fabric in classrooms must be treated with fire retardant. If you need fire retardant spray, see Ms. Brayboy.
  • A list of grant opportunities is located:
  • Staff, please avoid the front office at dismissal to eliminate disruption from dismissal routine.
  • Please be reminded that it is a district expectation to enter grades in PowerSchool on a weekly basis. Parents, guardians, and student use the Parent/Student Portal to check grades and should be able to see their up-to-date progress.

PBIS Corner

  • As with stamps and tickets, teachers must scan with fidelity for the incentives program to work. The daily teacher goal is to scan 115 times per day. This should be the minimum. Refer to the guide distributed by Ms. Brayboy for other tips on what to scan student badges for.
  • For next week, students must earn 20 tickets to attend TLC.
  • Figure out what works for you to ensure students receive scans. You can scan from you smart phone, enter scans on your computer, or use your smartboard.
  • Encourage students to be RESPONSIBLE and bring badges daily. Scanning badges for rewards is much easier than entering them in manually on the computer.
  • Teachers who teach 2 subjects should be scanning twice when students ROAR. Scan for ELA AND scan for Social Studies.
  • Set up your own store! Check out our list of FREE and FUN store items in the last Friday Review.
