D103 Begins Another Round of Remote Learning
Hello!
As we gear up to begin the next round of Remote Learning during the school closure, we would like to provide you with information about three changes we are making to our Remote Learning plan based on the comments from the parent and staff surveys.
Remote Learning Changes
Daily Learning Assignment Emails - Beginning Monday, March 30, teachers will send daily email assignments at 7 p.m. the evening before learning begins. We believe this will help many parents review assignments with their children before their own work day starts.
Office Hours - Teachers will be available to respond to parent and student questions during office hours from 8-10 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Setting office hours will provide consistent expectations for parents, students and teachers. Outside of these office hours, teachers are providing feedback on student assignments and virtually collaborating with their colleagues to plan future learning activities.
Personal Connections - We believe it is important for your child to hear their teachers’ voices, so beginning Wednesday, April 1, teachers will send a short audio or video file to students with a welcome message and general instructions for their assignments. These are not LIVE interactions, but rather a quick “hello” or instructions on “how to be successful” with their assignments.
Reminders
You will still receive a daily email.
Grades K-5 emails are sent by a homeroom teacher and Grades 6-8 emails are sent from a grade level representative.
The email will contain the assignments for the day along with a Daily Activity Log of past assignments and a link to the Parent Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
Beginning Tuesday, March 31, teachers will grade student work as required by the State. Grading will focus on providing feedback to students to enhance their understanding of what they are learning.
As more guidance is provided from the Illinois State Board of Education regarding closure timelines and Remote Learning expectations, we will inform you of any modifications being made to our plan. Please continue to share your thoughts and suggestions with us as we move through this new era of education together.
Sincerely,
The District 103 Administrative Team
