UPCOMING EVENTS
TERM DATES
Please check the community calendar for upcoming and future dates as the calendar is regularly updated.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents
This coming Sunday we celebrate Pentecost. The word Pentecost is Greek and it means "50th day." Fifty days after Easter Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and their followers and the beginning of their earthly ministry to make disciples of all nations. The symbols of Pentecost are the flame, wind and the dove, which represents the Holy Spirit.
Please keep the Year Six children in your prayers as they prepare to receive the sacrament of Confirmation on 11 and 12 June at Our Lady of the Mission Church.. This week they celebrated the sacrament of Reconciliation and next week they will have a Retreat Day where they are able to spend time reflecting the sacrament they are about to receive.
PCPS Family Mass
All PCPS families are invited to celebrate our special Family Mass at Our Lady of the Mission Church on Sunday, June 26 at 11.00am.
Children's Liturgy
Our Lady of the Missions is looking for parents to be Children Liturgy volunteers to help out a couple of times per year. Children’s Liturgy enables children aged from 4 – 8 years old to reach a better understanding of the Gospel Reading each Sunday. Children are taken into the meeting room at the start of the 9:30am Mass and they return to church at the Offertory of the Mass. If this is something that interests you, please contact co ordinator, Mandy 0439 959 317 Mandy:mandylee62@hotmail.com

Keeping Safe Curriculum
Padbury Catholic Primary School is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students is our highest priority. We are committed to child safety, supporting a child safe culture and always keeping the best interests of the child first. We are guided by the Catholic Education Western Australia Child Safe Framework which supports a child safe culture, healthy and respectful relationships and collective responsibility in our school community, based on the latest research and recognised best practices.
For further information please refer to the Child Safe Framework https://childsafe.cewa.edu.au or see your child's classroom teacher.
All of our classroom teachers from PK-6 teach from the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS:CPC). This curriculum is taught age appropriately every year by the classroom teacher who receive KS:CPC training. The teachers send home letters regarding when they are commencing their units and what will be taught. Through this curriculum the children learn they have a right to:
- be treated with respect and to be protected from harm
- be asked for their opinions about things that affect their lives and to be listened to
- feel and be safe in their interactions with adults and other children and young people
- understand as early as possible what is meant by 'feeling and being safe'
Vege Gardens
Some of our budding gardeners got their hands dirty last week as they helped Mrs Bottega fill the garden beds with lots of vegetable seedlings. We can’t wait til they start to grow and produce some delicious vegetables!
SunSmart UV Meter
Our PCPS SunSmart UV Meter is back up and running. Many thanks to Stephen Stack (former PCPS parent) who has been instrumental in ensuring the UV Meter was installed and working correctly. Next to the UV Meter is a beautiful plaque dedicated to his wife Siobhan, who had a passion for promoting the SunSmart message at our school. Many thanks to Danielle Thomas who has taken on the co ordination role of this P&F portfolio
Enjoy the long long weekend coming up as there is a pupil free day this Friday and next Tuesday. Children are back at school on Wednesday 8 June.
Kind regards
Mrs Margaret Williamson

FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS
ADMINISTRATION
Preparing for Semester 1 Reports - Important!
Semester 1 Reports for Kindy-Year 6 students will be uploaded to SEQTA Engage in Week 10 on Wednesday 29th June @ 3:30pm.
This year, we bring our Kindy reports online, and so Kindy parents will need to create a SEQTA Engage account in order to access the Semester 1 Kindy Development Profile.
It is important that you please check your login for SEQTA Engage as early as possible so that you will be able to access your child's report at the end of this term. To do this go to the following site: https://padbury.coneqt-p.cathednet.wa.edu.au/ and use your current username and password credentials.
If you have remembered your username but have forgotten your password, please click on the “Forgot your password” link and an immediate email will be sent to you. The email will expire within one hour, so please action this immediately. If you have forgotten both of these, please contact admin@padcath.wa.edu.au and we can remind you of your username.
Some parents (including those new to the school) will receive a SEQTA Engage Welcome Email in the coming weeks. If so, please follow the prompts to create an account so you are able to access Semester 1 Reports.
Kiss & Ride
A reminder that the whole of O'Leary Road (alongside the Oval) is dedicated to Kiss & Ride in the afternoons. A reminder to parents not to park in this zone as it does hold up the flow of student departures from Kiss & Ride. Please pass this information on to grandparents/babysitters, etc. that also pick up your children.
Thank you for your understanding in ensuring our pick-up system is as smooth and safe as possible for our children.
Thought for the Week
Have a wonderful fortnight ahead!

Screen Time Challenges......
Is screen time a challenge in your family? These five simple tips will help you to restore the balance and will provide your children with the skills to manage in todays wired world.
- Be a role model – your children will do as you do. They gravitate towards the behaviour modeled by their parents so set a good example and limit your screen time first.
- Set a timetable – explain why excessive screen time is harmful and agree on a timetable for use with your children
- Encourage other activities – share the importance of staying active – provide opportunities and again role model the desired behaviour
- Be involved in their lives – play games with your children, read to them, cook together, actively listen to them. Your children will feel more secure and connected to you when you spend quality time with them.
- Value family time – make screen free family time a priority. Disconnect with the rest of the world and reconnect with each other.
