Optional Professional Development Suggestions from YOU!!!!
Photos Needed: Staff with Favorite Books
- Take a picture of you with a favorite book. (Or have someone take it of you.)
- Airdrop or email it to me.
- I will print and hang the photos around the library.
Thank you for taking part in this. What a great way to introduce readers to different books and to continue to build connections and relationships with ALL students.
Video Production during Library Visits
Students will receive a 3-4 minute tutorial from me and then have the opportunity to try it out. I have also created a "User's Guide" which will be posted next to the green screen.
Students are often asking how it works. How can it open up possibilities for students to showcase their learning?
Check out the examples a few students created during the February Family Fun Library Night.
Checking out Books
Use of Library Space
How can the library space become an extension of your classroom?
Are your students recording and need to spread out? The library is a great space for that.
Do your students need a change of space for writer's workshop, book clubs, project work, or anything else?
Are your students creating projects and need space to work? Presenting projects? Display projects?
The library is the space. It is in the center of our school. Make it a center for all types of learning and a place more than just a place to check out books.

Showcases
- Do you have student projects to display?
- QR codes to post for others to scan and view?
- Student presentations?
- Student writing?
- and so much more.

Makerspace
Possible Activities to Use the Makerspace
- Students choose 4 different items to create something that will fly.
- Select up to 5 materials to create an animal and its habitat.
- Create puppets and perform a puppet show.
- Create a roller coaster with materials from the makerspace and a ping pong ball.
Even More Ideas
4th grade: Design and construct a sailboat to show how the wind (natural resource) is harnessed and transferred into energy.
3rd grade: Design and construct something that creates sound using a 3-dimensional shape. Explain how your creation works, what materials you chose, and why those were chosen.
2nd grade: Using various materials, design and create a model of an animal. Describe the features of the animal and how those features help the animal to survive.
1st grade: Design and build an instrument that makes sound using vibrations.
Kindergarten: Design and construct a model of either a plant or animal. Label the parts of the model and tell about each part.
