Michigan Leadership Institute and our Board of Directors have selected the candidates that will interview for our Director/Superintendent position. Interviews take place at the public Board meetings occurring next week. Two interviews are scheduled for Monday evening, two for Tuesday evening, and one for Wednesday evening, all beginning at 5:30 pm. To be courteous to our candidates no late public attendees will be allowed into the media center. Public audience members will be given a form to fill out during each interview to give feedback to the Board. Interviews will take place in the media center. Our own Mrs. Kovatch is interviewing on Monday evening - we wish her the best in her quest to lead Holly Academy in the coming years! This is such a bittersweet process for me; however, I'm excited to see what the future holds for our Husky family! It's great to be a Husky!

Annual Education Report

Our Annual Education Report for the 2020-2021 school year can be found on our website. If you desire a hard copy, they are available in the office. We are so proud of our academic performance last year. Even in a pandemic, our Huskies outperformed the national norm! Dare to be remarkable!

March is Reading Month

Thank you to all students who participated in our commercial video and poster contests. I am so proud of all who entered, as it was amazing to see the incredible creativity of our Huskies and their families. The decision-making process for our winners sure was a challenge, as all of our entries were shining stars. Those that came out on top were the following:

  • Poster Winners (see pictures below)

    • Hayden Sornson - 2nd grade

    • Bekah Berry - 4th grade

    • Luke Moran-Schroeder - 7th grade

    • Ela Knight - 8th grade

  • Commercial Winner

    • Elise Sumner- Y 5’s

Honorable mentions for their commercial entries also goes to the following:

  • Roman Slack - 1st grade

  • Marley Hohner - 2nd grade

  • Addison Palarchio - 3rd grade

  • Shanice Francis - 3rd grade

To see the commercials, first hand, please check out our website as they will be released throughout the month of March. Again, great job to everyone who went above and beyond to show their ‘out of this world’ talent!

Science

Excellent job to our 5th graders in their debate about the pros and cons of coal usage. I was able to be a part of this lesson by serving in the role of “energy conservation officer.” It was my job to make a well-informed decision if I would utilize coal for my power plant. Both sides did an amazing job on their research and persuasive techniques. What a creative and fun way to implement the curriculum!

Global Focus

In support of the third grade global focus, Mrs. Mison’s class Zoomed with students from Greenland to discover the similarities and differences between our cultures.

Don’t forget - keep reading at least 20 minutes every night!
