Green Committee Sponsors Hydration Station for Walk-A-Thon
The annual Manatee Elementary Walk-A-Thon is quickly approaching. To continue our green efforts around campus, the Green Committee will have a Hydration Station set up throughout the Walk-A-Thon event on Thursday January 24th. We encourage everyone to bring in a refillable water bottle, labeled with their name. The Hydration Station will provide refreshing Ice-Cold Water to refill student’s water bottle, spritz students with cool water, let them seek shade or take a few moments to rest. Please send your student to school with a reusable water bottle on January 24th to help keep them cool and hydrated while cutting down on disposable bottle waste.
2019 Space Coast Countdown to Fitness
Hi, my name is Ms. Best and I will be your commander for the 2019 Space Coast Countdown to Fitness & Final Mile. This is a FREE program, hosted by Running Zone Foundation to promote fitness and reduce childhood obesity.
Students will run or walk 25.2 miles in 1 mile increments over a period of 10 weeks and keep track of their miles by coloring tracking sheets. The miles can be accumulated by doing physical activity as a family, participating in a sport in conjunction with any activity that you already do (Morning Mile, Cross Country, LACES, etc.) Students will receive prizes for every 5 miles completed to keep them motivated on becoming healthier. All participating schools may attend the Space Coast Final Mile on May 4, 2019 at 9am at Viera High School to complete the last mile of the marathon together. Students begin tracking their miles on February 23rd, 2019.
Running Zone Foundation will provide students with FREE Countdown to Fitness school t-shirts, tracking sheets and prizes.
Students will participate in a fun-filled mission to live happier and healthier lives
The school with the most program participation will be awarded $250
All students who attend the Space Coast Final Mile will be awarded finisher medals at the completion of the Space Coast Countdown to Fitness program
