Mr. Cottrell's Class News
As some of us keep rolling through fractions, we have begun our unit on area and perimeter. Mr. Durham wanted to thank our class for helping him find the area of our desktops! He has ordered the new part and will make repairs as soon as he gets it. If you have no idea what I am talking about, just ask your student. ;)
As the year is winding down, we have to keep in mind that we still have quite a bit of school left, which means we have quite bit of learning to finish! Area and perimeter are our current lesson, but we are sliding in a lot of geometry as well! Here are the standards we are currently working on:
Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
Measure areas by counting unit squares (square cm, square m, square in, square ft, and improvised units).
Reading and Writing
Even though next week is our week before Spring Break, we have so much to wrap up! Next week, we will be finishing reading Unit 4, as well as our opinion piece.
Education Galaxy is a nice tool because it lets students work on individual standards, while playing games!
I'm sure you have heard of this one! The kids absolutely love Prodigy and I love the way it encourages them to think about the questions and to take their time!
